Santa made me cry!

We had a great visit with Santa last night at Phipps. There was a bit of a line, but we got there early and it moved really fast--almost too fast because I had to finish getting Kate ready.

Anyway, so they give you this wish list to give to Santa, and I filled it out for Kate. On her list was world peace, for more people to know Jesus, and for everyone to have a merry Christmas. When Santa read it, he said something like, "For more people to know Jesus--that's sweet. Thank you for putting that." Then he looked at Kate and said something like, "And we want you to grow up and know Jesus." I couldn't stop the waterworks at that point. (DH got a little bit of it on video with the camera--now I kinda wish we would have gotten the DVD, but we didn't because she's just a baby and doesn't talk.) Santa was so nice and patient! They also let us take a couple of pictures with our camera, too.

Things to Remember

I wanted to type up a few things to remember about Kate these days. I have not done a good job at keeping up with the baby book. I know that is really bad. I just knew I would be great at it! I actually bought three different baby books before she was born. I like the one we chose, but I have to admit ... some of the entries to be completed are kind of dumb.

Anyway ... I am so glad Tanna has been keeping up with his blog because I figure I can go back and refer to his posts when I need to fill in the baby book or scrapbook. (I also haven't done any pages of Kate yet--can you believe it?!) So let me get a few things down about what she is doing these days.

She is four months old--will be five months next week (a week from today, actually). She is eating anywhere from 6-8 (and sometimes even 9!) ounces per feeding. Still eating every three hours for the most part (except at night, of course). She LOVES her play mat (has for a few months now, I guess) and likes to sit in her Bumbo seat, too. Almost two weeks ago, she started sitting in her exersaucer, which she also enjoys! (Thanks to Aunt Robin and Uncle Steven for the hand-me-down!) Sometimes when she seems to be getting a little bored in the living room, we'll go out into the sunroom. She really seems to love being out there. I think it's all the natural lighting. I am so glad we got the new windows and carpeting before she was born. It has added so much to our place--it's like a whole new room!

Kate also loves holding her feet with her hands--with her legs propped up in the air. It's really a funny sight! Also, a few weeks ago, she started rolling over! She likes to "talk" and makes all sorts of funny talking noises. Interestingly enough, she still enjoys a good swaddle, especially when Tanna does it. (He is better at swaddling than I am.)

Other faves: her aquarium, her butterfly rattle (I think it's a butterfly, anyway), her GumDrop paci and her WubbaNub purple frog paci!

Kate is so sweet. She smiles so much and seems to be enjoying life. She went with me to the eye doctor's office and the mall this week--and she made some new friends (folks who were talking to her, etc.). She'd just smile up at them from her carseat. :o) I can't get over how fast she is growing.

The last two nights, she has slept in her crib! Yay! Although last night, Tanna ended up taking her to our bed about 5 a.m., I guess. She went right back to sleep--which she didn't seem to be doing in her room. I've been sick this week, so I have been sleeping out on the sofa--don't want to get anyone sick.

This week I got the Christmas tree out and started decorating while Kate supervised. It's out in the sunroom. I had to move a few things around because it is bigger than I realized. Maybe we'll get rid of it before next year. It's a nice tree, but some of the lights aren't working any longer (even after I tried to figure out how to fix them) ... and it is kind of large for our place. We got it at Target for 90 perecent off a few years ago. A $200 tree for $20! So even if we don't use it again after this year, I think we got our money's worth!
