Groundhog Day 2009

Here's Kate checking out the groundhog mask I bought in Punxsutawney seven years ago.

Did you have a nice Groundhog Day? I hope so! We had a kind of low-key Groundhog Day this year. We had a morning appointment, so we didn't make it out to the big festivities this year. Plus, it was kind of cold, and I didn't want to brave the crowds with a curious toddler by myself. (Maybe next year! ;o)) I did, however, snap a few photos of Kate to share:

Here's Kate before nap time--she is wearing a brown sweater in honor of the groundhog.

On Groundhog night. (Tanna had already taken Kate's sweater off. Underneath, she was ready for Valentine's Day, of course!) Here she is with her two groundhogs and a little pink mailbox to hold her Valentines. :o) Oh yeah, and the little hat she wore last year on Feb. 2.

Here's Phillie, the groundhog we made at Build-A-Bear last year when my Mom came to visit. This year, Phillie got a new shirt and hat to wear! She (or is Phillie a "he"? I can't remember) is all set to campaign for Lamar Alexander now!

Phillie's shirt that we bought last year--it has two sides. This one, which indicates six more weeks of winter.

... and this one--which reads, "I smell spring!"

Happy Groundhog Day!
