Care Package to Korea, Take Two

We mailed another care package to Korea. Sent it Express on Wednesday, June 2, and it should arrive on Monday, June 7, barring any customs delays or unforeseen circumstances. I was a bit concerned about the vitamins clearing customs, but I did read that other families had sent them in care packages, so I went ahead and included them. We'll see what happens ...

Here's what I sent for Isaac's foster family. We don't have a lot of information about his current foster family, so I wasn't sure how many gifts to send. I have put in a request for more info, though--hoping to hear something soon. Oh yeah, back to the gifts:
  • Coach laptop/document sleeve--Koreans apparently love this brand, and I found a sweet deal at an outlet store
  • "Mom" bracelet from Hallmark store
  • Three Georgia/Atlanta-themed tote bags/reusable shopping bags--I heard these were popular. Plus, the bags can hold the care-package gifts, right? :o)
  • I Heart NY Taffy--bought on our trip to The Big Apple last month
  • Atlanta/Georgia playing cards and key chains--I found these at Wal-Mart in my search for local souvenir-type things
  • Cute magnets
  • Scarf
  • Vitamins--Koreans value vitamins, and giving them as a gift can show thoughtfulness and concern for the recipients' health and well-being ... as in, you wish them good health
  • Card/note
And here is what I sent for Isaac:
  • Gymboree froggie PJs, size 6-12 months
  • Gymboree froggie hat
  • Gymboree froggie socks
  • Cute little orange fox knit doll
  • Package of teething toys
  • Little People board book about Zookeeper Mack--we love Little People, and we love the zoo
  • Family photo

Got it all to fit in that Express box! YAY! Here's Kate with the package just before we left for the post office.

  1. I LOVE your care package! I'm trying to put one together and I have to say, I'm kind of at a loss. It's nice to see that you included things for the Foster Family - it hadn't crossed my mind that I should include more stuff for them (oops!).

Anyway - great ideas, great items (and is that a Burberry scarf I see?!??!!?)

  2. Thanks so much! We are not traveling (using escort), so I wanted to send more gifts for the foster family.

Oh, the scarf isn't real--just a knock-off, but I thought it was cute. And it was a great deal. :o) I read somewhere to keep the cost of a care package total below $100. I can't remember where I saw that, but our SW did say not to spend a lot of money because there is no guarantee that any care package will arrive safely, etc.

    Have fun shopping!
