Birthday Fun

As the weekend of Kate's birthday party approached, I realized that it fell right in between Uncle Johnny's birthday (June 25) and Aunt Robin's birthday (today, July 24). So, unbeknownst to them, I planned a little party to take place right after they arrived on Friday night. I even wrapped up a few gifts--most of them consisted of snacks for Robin to take on her mission trip to the Czech Republic, where she is this week.

I picked up a cookie cake--a family favorite--and had it decorated with "Happy Birthday J.R." Johnny and Robin share the same first two initials. In fact, there was a time when we were growing up that Robin wanted her nickname to be J.R. LOL! I requested only chocolate icing--our favorite ... and all you need, really--but the lady insisted that it wouldn't show up well. I knew better, but I allowed the white icing, too. (We have ordered many a cookie cake with only chocolate icing, BTW, and it is perfectly legible, IMO. The white icing just doesn't taste as good to us.)

The party had a Hollie Hobbie theme! :o) I put to use some of the cute classic Hollie Hobbie goodies that my friend Kristi found a while back. So cute. (We loved Hollie Hobbie growing up and even had Hollie Hobbie bedspreads, etc. I had a blue-and-white Hollie Hobbie desk, too)

Happy Birthday! BLY!
