Cow Appreciation Day 2009

Yes, I will dress like a cow for free food--especially for free Chick-fil-A! (Like you even had to ask.) We had a blast on Cow Appreciation Day last Friday. We made a full day of it, just like last year.

For breakfast, we met up with Jennifer, Evan and Liam at the same Chick-fil-A where we would be having Kate's birthday party the next day. We were greeted with a lot noise, as the employees would blow whistles and whatnot when customers came in dressed up to participate in CAD.

Kate wore the same adorable cow outfit that she wore to her birthday party. It was a gift from an Internet friend whose daughter had worn it for her farm/cow-themed birthday party. She also sent a couple of cow-print hairbows. They were too big for Kate, so I wore one (at least, for ordering purposes). I also wore a pillowcase dress that I had ordered a few months ago for Kate to wear to her party. When it arrived, however, it was way too big. I had ordered a size up, which I thought would work, given the style of the dress. But it just looked too big and sloppy. One night, I tried it on to see if I could wear it as a top for CAD. With the very loose style and the adjustable ribbon shoulder straps, it actually worked. It was a bit snug, of course, but it worked! After a full day of free food at CFA, this "dress" has practically paid for itself. We should get a couple more years of wear out of this piece, too!

To qualify for a free combo (instead of just a free entree), you had to be dressed like a cow from head to toe. I wanted to make sure I made the cut, so I stamped these cows on my feet. Glad you could see them with my black-and-white flip-flops on. (I should have put my shoes on first--LOL!)

Jennifer, Evan and Liam looked great! I like how Jennifer coordinated their outfits to read "Eat Mor Chikin" (or "Chikin Mor Eat" ;o)) when they were all standing together. So cute!

Look at those hooves! Jennifer printed out the cow accessories that CFA had on its CAD Web site. The hooves were so funny! Liam is wearing a little hat from Gymboree, in case you were wondering. ;o)

Here's Kate with some of our free food. She was so excited to sit in the booth like a big girl!

While we were there, CFA put up this really fun balloon arch. I am holding a little cow sign I made out of leftover notecards I'd used for the treat bags for Kate's birthday party. I made several for the kids to hold and play with. (All I did was cut the cow face and tape a cardboard "stick" to the back--easy-peasy!) I thought that if we needed to, we could use them as little cow masks.

As you can imagine, Kate was obsessed with the balloons and with this game wheel.

The guys with one of the CFA cows the restaurant had out for decoration. We tried to get a pic of the three kids, but Kate wasn't feeling it.

However, she did pose in this photo cut-out ... with a little help from Mommy, of course.

Visiting the huge inflatable cow outside. We saw this guy last year, too!

In between breakfast and lunch, Evan and Liam came over to play for a little while. It was great to visit for a bit before our next stop in the CAD CFA ATL tour. (I was seeing how many acronyms I could get in there.)

Next stop ... lunch!

For lunch, like last year, we met the guys at work and ate at the Chick-fil-A there. It was fun, though I thought there would be a lot more people participating in CAD. Last year, I remember seeing nurses and other folks dressed up.

Look at that smile! Kate was so excited to see her Ah-Pah!

Family pic while we wait in line. How do you like my purse? It was a gift for this very occasion from my very thoughtful friend Kristi. Tanna is wearing one of the CFA cow hats that some restaurants give out prior to the big day. I had picked up a couple at another nearby CFA earlier in the week.

Frilingos family fun!

On our way back to the parking garage after a great lunch!
_______

And last (but not least) ... dinner! For dinner, we met Luann, Trey and Shelby at the CFA close to where they live. (Chip was working that night--maybe next year, Chip! I want to see you in full cow costume--LOL!)

Arriving ... and ready for some nuggets. (Kate *loves* chicken nuggets and will very enthusiastically yell "NUGGETS!" when she is ready to eat or when we are at CFA. ha!)

Luann and Trey in their getup! I love their headbands and ears. (They had been to another CFA for lunch.)

Kate and Trey, ready and waiting. Aren't they so cute? It was a wonderful evening to eat outside on the patio. See that cow bucket? I picked it up at Target for 75 percent off! We used it as a little decoration at Kate's birthday party, too.

Sweet Shelby with Mommy Luann. She is so adorable! (The baby's cute, too. ha!)

Luann and me celebrating a great day!

MOOOOO-CHAS GRACIAS, CHICK-FIL-A, FOR A FUN-FILLED DAY AND FOR ALL THE FREE FOOD! We had a blast--can't wait for next year!

P.S. You can read about last year's CAD adventures here and here! :o)
