I still haven't written about our time at the airport and the moment when we first saw Isaac in person and held him in our arms. It's a post that I don't want to rush, as it will require a lot of time and thought--and I want to (try to) do it a little bit of justice. I want to write it sooner rather than later, for sure, but I'm not sure when I'll be able to sit down and sort through all my thoughts and feelings and get them recorded.
HOWEVER ...
I MUST share with you our story of that evening, told through the lens of Rhonda Dixon, an online friend of mine and a local photographer. Rhonda contacted me and asked if she could come and take photos at the airport of Isaac's homecoming. In fact, she even offered to meet us at our house and take some pictures before we left for the airport.
I was so excited that she was offering to document our evening for us--but when she offered, she did not know of Isaac's arrival time. 11:56. And that would be p.m. Surprisingly, the time didn't bother her--a fellow night owl, she was still excited about the opportunity to photograph an adoption homecoming, even though it was happening in the middle of the night.
YAY!
Anyway, enough of the back story. You have to read her blog post and see some of the images she captured that night. Like the other images and videos that were so graciously recorded for us, we were so moved by these photographs and so grateful to have them for Isaac. We will certainly treasure them.
Thank you, Rhonda!

ReplyDeleteWow, Karen! I'd stumbled across your blog many months ago (maybe a year?) and recently caught up on your blog and read all about Isaac! How exciting! Your family is so beautiful, and I'm so happy for you! I can't believe how much I teared up over your posts about him, and especially the pictures where you meet him for the first time and where he's becoming part of your family. Maybe it really hit home because he reminds me so much of my own baby, Amy, who's almost 10 months now. Again, I'm so happy for you and your new family. --Susie, the Korean-American woman who's from Atlanta, but lives in Portland, OR.
