Because it's Father's Day weekend, I thought today's celeb for Celebrity Saturday could be one of America's most-loved TV dads:
Alan Thicke. You will recall that Thicke played Jason Seaver on "Growing Pains" back in the day. But did you know that ... in addition to that and his many other accomplishments ... he also composed the theme songs to two other '80s faves: "Diff'rent Strokes" and "The Facts of Life"? He did! (
You take the good ... you take the bad ... you take 'em both ...)
Anyway, I met Thicke in Knoxville, Tennessee, when he was starring in the musical
Chicago. I had interviewed him for an advance story, and then got to meet him after the show one night. As I remember, he was very friendly and very funny. His performance was great, too!
Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. It's been cropped, and the coloring is pretty off. This would have been in the year 2000 or thereabouts.
I need to know how in the world you have met so many celebrities!!!
ReplyDelete(btw, I am a big Growing Pains fan - I had a huge crush on Kirk Cameron as a pre-teen!)
LOL, Lori! It's a mixture of random encounters, book signings and other planned events, and work-related meetings. Wait till next week! :o)
