Odds and Ends

So here are a few things from the last week or so ...

One day last week, we met Jane (right), Jasper, Allison (left) and Blake at the mall. It's hard to believe how big the kids are getting! Blake is just a few days younger than Kate, and Jasper is already 8 months old!

After a little shopping, Jane and Jasper had lunch with Kate and me in the food court. (Allison had a prior lunch appointment.) Here, Jane is holding Kate so I could finish my CFA! Jasper and Kate had fun smiling and laughing at each other.

What a cutie! I love his curly hair! Jane has already had to cut it.

Friday evening, Tanna was busy editing a video for his end-of-the-year work dinner, which was Saturday. It's a tradition that the residents do a skit (usually filmed and shown during the program) making fun of the attendings. This year, the attendings put together a little video of their own. Both were hilarious! Tanna was spoofed in the resident video--and I must say ... Cederic (the resident who played Tanna) was pretty good at playing Tanna. He had some of his mannerisms down pat! So funny!

Do you see the sippy cup in the photo?

A little aside ... On Saturday morning, we hit the CFA breakfast buffet (at the CFA on Peachtree at Collier). I may have mentioned this before, but this is a great breakfast buffet--and one of the only CFAs that we know of that offers one. It's on Saturdays only. I don't get the buffet because I don't eat enough to make it worth the money, but it's a great value at $7.49. Lots of great items on there--like CFA chicken, hash rounds (or whatever they are called), grits, eggs, bacon, biscuits and gravy, fruit salad, etc.

I like driving down Peachtree in the mornings this time of the year because you see A LOT more runners out. People are training for the Peachtree Road Race--this year, it's going to be on July 4. ;o) LOL! (It's on Independence Day every year.) Tanna just told me it's the largest 10K in the world. I've never run it (shocker, I know!), but it's very fun to watch. The energy is great, and the atmosphere is like a big party!

Back to the dinner ... it was delicious, and the company was fantastic. It's a good place to be (in a room full of doctors) if you are going to choke. Fortunately, no one did. Unfortunately, the lighting wasn't the best, so a lot of the photos didn't turn out that great. Here we are with Edwin, one of the residents from the Dominican Republic.

And here's Edwin's lovely wife, Johanna.

Sunday morning. Father's Day. Here we are walking into church. This is Tanna's fake smile. He wasn't in a very good mood because we were running late, his nose wouldn't stop bleeding, he bonked Kate's head on the car and felt bad about it, etc., etc.

After church. A real smile. Nothing like a little worship and some of God's Word to cheer a guy up!

Oh yeah--when we went to get Kate from the nursery, this is what we saw! We don't remember the last time she slept in the nursery. ha! Look how big she looks in that little bouncy! LOL! She's a giant!

Later in the day, we went to Aqua Bistro for dinner. Tanna's choice. It was good. Yes, I am wearing my new necklace again. Three times in a week--it's getting some good action.

Kate wore her "i love daddy" shirt for Father's Day. Awwwwwww ...

We started using these Snack-Trap snack holders. The concept is that kids can get their hands in and out of them to self-feed, and the snacks (Cheerios, in this case) stay inside. Well, the other day, Kate bit the lid off. ha! Here, she is biting on the lid, but it stayed put this time. Maybe I didn't have it on good enough before. Who knows?

Hope you're having a great week!

  3. Great post Karen! I ran the ptree (ok, I walked) one year (2006) and almost had a heat stroke. But it was fun. Kenny is doing it again this year. I think this is his 5th year in a row!
