Eggs: Hunting ... Coloring ... So on & So Forth

We had a very eggy Saturday before Easter. That morning, Tanna had to work, so I set off with Kate to our church's annual Easter egg hunt at a nearby park. It had been rather stormy Friday night, so it was a bit brisk that morning ... and somewhat muddy in a few places. But we were ready to go!

We arrived at the park with about 30 minutes to spare before the hunt began. All the eggs were already set up, and it was hard to contain Kate--she just wanted to go after them! She also kept running toward the playground area, and I kept holding her back. There were just too many kids around for me to keep a good eye on her, and I didn't want her to get run over. Well, this did not go over well with Kate--her mean mommy was just putting a damper on her plans for fun! So we had a few meltdowns--and that 30 minutes seemed like forever. I pulled out a lollipop from my bag of tricks--it was an emergency, after all. That seemed to do the trick until the hunt started.

It was finally time to go gather those colored eggs--and they were gone in no time! Kate really enjoyed gathering a few eggs. We saw some friends and took a few more photos, and it was time to go home and eat lunch. Here are some pics from the hunt:

And she's off!

Lookie there!

In the basket they go!

Off to get more eggs!

Yay! Found some more!

I don't know about Kate, but I was ready for a nap by this point!

This pic is for my sister Cindy, whose nickname used to be "Buttercup." (And by "nickname," I mean "CB handle." LOL!)

Sooooo ... after lunch and no nap taken by Kate ... Tanna came home, and we all headed out to see his parents. They had a full day of church activities on Sunday, so Saturday was the best time for us to get together.

Kate *loves* Halmoni's marinated beef! Yummmmmm ...

Kate enjoyed finding her eggs over and over again. Inside ...

... and out! When she would pick one up, she would look at us and declare, "EGG!"

Walking around the neighborhood with Halmoni.

Coloring Easter eggs out on the deck ...

It was a nice idea ... though I am not sure I would do it again with a 21-month-old. LOL! I put Kate in this dress because it already had some stains on it, so that was good. ;o)

Decorating the eggs with stickers. Fun! My mother loved coloring eggs with us when we were little--and my grandmother colored eggs with her when she was a little girl. I love this tradition.

Kate's egg!

Wishing Halmoni and Halabaji a Happy Easter before we go. What a full and fun day!

P.S. Tanna ate egg rolls made by his Mom, too! So even more eggs!

  2. Kate totally gets the egg hunt concept! How cute...and very smart for 21 months! I also like the idea of coloring eggs on the deck. I wish I would have thought of that! I just covered the table with newspaper and prayed for now spills! Yes, even my teens spill and dye their fingers and clothes! :D

  4. Sounds like your Saturday was similar to ours (egg overstimulation, melt downs, no naps, more melt downs BUT lots o' eggs)!! Kate looks so pretty in her "wellow" as AP would say for yellow and looks like a pro getting those eggs. I love her pigtails, too.
