Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! --Luke 24:5-6, NKJV
We had a nice Easter Sunday. It was kind of low-key, which is fine with us. :o) Tanna had to work that morning, so it was just Kate and me for church. She looked so pretty in her little cross dress--at least I thought she did. :o) She did great in the nursery while I attended the late worship service with a guest of ours.
That's right--I forgot to tell you! Flat Stanley has been staying with us a few days already! I need to do a better job at getting him out and about. Hope to remedy that this week. I think I need to get him laminated, though, because running around with us can wear and tear on a person. haha! Flat Stanley enjoyed the Easter worship--can't you tell? (I'm sure the people sitting behind me thought I was nuts, but I don't care!)
Our church has this gorgeous floral cross out on its lawn for Easter. The cross is actually out there during the Lenten season, but it is not decorated like this until the big day. I meant to get a photo of it on Good Friday, so you could see the difference in the dressings, but I failed on that one. Maybe next year!
Here we are in front of the cross after church.
The Easter Bunny came to our place during naptime! He left lots of goodies for Kate out in the play room.
I think the Easter Bunny went a little overboard with the owl theme! Actually, truth be told, he shops the Target clearance and bought a lot of this stuff for 75 percent off after Valentine's Day. The owl sleeping bag and little owl toy also are Target 75 percent off specials! (Even the EB LOVES Target clearance!) The owl books he ordered off of Amazon--and a few things I already had on hand to add to the theme. haha! I was really getting into it. Oh yeah, the EB also loves to shop at Dollar Tree for little goodies--several things in here are from there. I just wish there was a Dollar Tree closer to us. (Or maybe not ... those dollars add up quickly! LOL!)
Kate went straight for the goldfish!
We had some books to help explain to Kate the true meaning of Easter.
Here Kate looks at a book about Easter given to her by Aunt Anne and Uncle Johnny (and A & A-C).
Here's Tanna reading from one of her children's Bibles--I think this is the one cousin Kylie gave her when she was a newborn.
Speaking of teaching children the true meaning of Easter, these are Resurrection Eggs. Miss PattyCake uses them in her Easter video. They make a great tool for sharing the Easter story with children ... and adults.
I think Kate is still a little young for them, but she loves to look at them and shake them. (They do contain potential choking hazards, so parental supervision is advised. :o)) Basically, the concept is that inside each egg is a symbol that represents the Easter story from the Bible.
It starts with a little donkey inside a blue egg to tell the story of Christ's triumphal entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday ...
And ends with an empty egg to symbolize the empty tomb because CHRIST IS RISEN!
In between, there are several symbols--including a cross of nails, a crown of thorns, a die, and a cup (The Last Supper) to take you through the story of Holy Week. You can order a set of Resurrection Eggs from FamilyLife--or you can make your own. If you search for "Resurrection Eggs" online, several Web sites will come up with lots of ideas for do-it-yourself Resurrection Eggs.
Kate loved carrying the eggs around ...
... and shaking them to hear the contents.
In addition to her Miss PattyCake Easter DVD, Kate enjoyed watching It's the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown--she loves those Peanuts videos! Before bed, Tanna fixed a delicious Easter dinner--and we had leftovers last night. YUM!
Kate's artwork from church--love it!
HAPPY EASTER!
Well, of course, she looks beautiful in her dress!
ReplyDeleteI love her dress! So special. You look great in your outfit too!
ReplyDeleteGREAT post, Karen. Kate IS beautiful and I loved her dress. That cross at your church is just the prettiest thing.
ReplyDeleteAs for the EB, OH MY WORD. Whooooo (pun intended) needs an Easter Basket when you can have a WHOLE table hold your goodies!?!? GREAT job, EB!
She's just so cute, Karen. We miss you guys.
ReplyDeleteKaren these pictures are beautiful...especially that one of her in her dress! The EB was good to Kate what a lucky girl!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat two beautiful ladies on Easter Sunday! And that cross- just gorgeous! Kate's dress is so pretty- I love the smocking!
ReplyDeleteThat Easter basket is something else. You know I'm loving the owl theme (esp the sleeping bag!) Did your Easter bunny mean to leave a trail of eggs and such on his path? If he did, nice touch. Ours could learn a thing or two from yours.
bly!
I agree with Kate's Mom that she is adorable in her Easter frock!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see Flat Stanley went to church on Easter Sunday!! Maybe he can help spread the word of God for us???!!!??
