Adoption Update: January 12, 2010
Thought I would post an update on our adoption process. We are still in the waiting stages and expect to be for several more months. We both finished our online adoption training course in December--yay! Tanna actually finished before me, and I completed the training the night before we left for California. (That's me--waiting until the last minute!) We are required to complete at least 10 hours of adoption training, and this course counts for eight hours, if I remember correctly. We have enough credit when you count an adoption dinner and talk we attended a few months ago. Oh, and I think reading some books count as well. I ordered a few books a while back and am currently reading Twenty Things Adopted Kids Wish Their Adoptive Parents Knew by Sherrie Eldridge. I have learned a lot in the last few months--and I look forward to learning a lot more.
I have been careful about buying anything, especially because we are unsure of the timing of everything and the gender and exact age of the baby. It is sooooo hard to resist buying things for the baby, but I did buy another stocking at Pottery Barn Kids after Christmas. It coordinates with Kate's stocking and is so cute. I also bought Kate another "Big Sister" shirt at Gymboree. I had bought her one last year in a size 3, hoping she would be able to wear it before she outgrew it. If she doesn't get it wear that one, it is OK. I bought her another one in a size 4. Too cute. Oh, and I bought an adorable little rattle for the baby at blabla. :o)
I wanted to share this touching post written by a Korean adoptee for the blog Kimchi Mamas. It's a great site, by the way. You should click around.
