Last week, we went to a book signing for The Elf on the Shelf! How fun! We had planned to attend a different book event the week prior, but it was canceled--so I was glad that it worked out for us to go to this one. And it was in the evening (on Thanksgiving Eve), so Tanna was able to go with us. Yay!
I learned about The Elf on the Shelf last year and thought it was such a neat concept. Basically, you can "adopt" a little elf who comes to live at your house. Each night during Christmastime, the elf--which you name--reports back to Santa on your family members' behavior. Every morning, upon his return from the North Pole, he appears in a different place in your home, and your kids can search for him. There are a lot of neat activities that can go along with this, and I am still learning.
I think Kate may be a little young for The Elf on the Shelf this year, but I thought we could go ahead and try it. We have yet to name our elf or even bust him out of the package, but we enjoyed hearing the story (there was a reading at the event) and meeting the authors and illustrator. Everyone was very nice!
The authors and the illustrator were there.
Kate is excited about The Elf on the Shelf!
Waiting for the reading to begin
Checking out the book with Ah-Pah
Our little elf--we need to name him still.
Good night!
Sooo cute! I think that is a great tradition!
ReplyDeleteToo Cute! I want to do one next year. Love Kate's outfit.
ReplyDeleteSo cool! I'm gonna do that next year too!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute and a fun tradition! I can't wait until Colin is old enough for something like that.
ReplyDeleteI love it. I think we'll start this tradition next year when the boys will understand better. such a cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThis is so cute! I wish I would have found this when the boys were smaller. At 16, 15 and 10 I think they would probably abduct the elf and hold him for ransome (the gifts that they want from Santa).
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute idea! I know people who did the elf growing and still have fond memories! I laughed at the last pic..it looks like Kate is carrying a row of CDs!
ReplyDeletehow 'bout we name him "squirt"?
