We decided to spend Halloween weekend in Tennessee this year so Kate could trick-or-treat with her cousins. I wanted to do this before her older cousins get too old to go trick-or-treating. It worked out very well because Oct. 31 fell on a Saturday this year. Plus, Aunt Cindy (my sister who lives in Spain) had sent the girls (Kate and her Tennessee cousins) matching Spanish dancing dresses--so they all went as dancing senoritas this year. I think they looked just adorable!
I picked up Michael Jackson costume accessories for Tanna at Target, and at the Goodwill store I found a shirt that worked with a skirt I already had to be a Spanish dancer, too. (Well, kind of--LOL!) I helped to convince the other adults to dress up as well. My sister Robin was a cat, and her DH (Steven) was a scarecrow. Johnny (my brother) went as DJ Lance Rock, and SIL Anne was a piggie. It was a lot of fun!
We spent Halloween afternoon carving and decorating pumpkins before getting ready for the big night. We were going to see my parents, but my mother was not feeling well and wasn't up for company. (She is currently in the hospital due to a reaction to some medication, but she is doing well and could potentially go home tomorrow. Yay! :o))
Once we were all ready to go, we took some photos and then headed out to downtown Bluff City. Churches there have lots of fun activities for kids--trunk-or-treating, hayrides, festival games, food, little train rides, etc., etc. It was a great time for all! It started to rain a couple of times, but that was OK--we still had a blast!
Here are a bunch of photos from our evening. I hope you had a nice Halloween, too.
Sweet Senoritas! I made their hair clips with some black flowers Robin found at Michaels. I took the flowers apart and hot-glued the pieces to alligator clips I covered with black ribbon. They weren't exactly perfect, but they turned out OK. :o)
Robin was almost a lobster, but finally decided on a cat--with a tail and everything! Loved it!
Anne's pig accessories were bought last year at The Pink Pig--which, by the way, opens this weekend!
MJ and his entourage. Kate learned how to say "Michael Jackson."
Tanna as MJ--this is his "The Way You Make Me Feel" look.
Kate with Dolly, who is also wearing a Spanish dancing dress. :o)
Here is Kate helping herself at the trunk-or-treating at my sister's church. Notice Johnny's pumpkin smiling for the camera in the background.
On our way!
Sibling shot. We talked Johnny into being DJ Lance Rock from Yo Gabba Gabba. (He was happy to do so because Anna-Claire loves the show.) I took several dress-up things with us to Tennessee in case they might come in handy--and they did! ;o) I had the hat and glasses--bought them at the Target toy clearance for Kate months ago. The shirt was Steven's, but it had a logo on it. So we covered it with a "Lance" name tag. Two strips of medical tape on the front of the shirt, and he was good to go! Not bad for a (very) last-minute costume! BTW, guess who else was DJ Lance? Brad Pitt! We didn't see him, despite many rumors that he frequents the area and could be buying a house nearby. (????)
Having fun on a wet hayride. Loved it!
Umbrellas were out in full force!
Hay!
Loving the costumes--here is Robin the cat with Carrie the Asian princess (Is that right?) and Amanda ... I mean Smurfette.
Happy Halloweeeeeeeeeeeeen!
Looks like your brother and Brad Pitt were the same thing for Halloween! Great pics. I need to start a tradition where I "make" everyone dress up. My DH already says I'm bossy, so I'll just take it to the next level, LOL.
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Love when people go all out on Halloween. Praying for your Mom's progress!
ReplyDeleteOk. Now I finally had a chance to really read the post. I hope your mom feels better soon! Sorry I missed that...and the fact that you already knew your brother was the same thing as Mr. Pitt. Silly me :)
ReplyDeleteSo cute! I didn't realize you made the flowers....why they look just like the ones I saw in the El Campello market yesterday! Did I tell you I had happy tears when I first saw the picture of those beautiful flamingo dancers on Sunday morning? They look so beuatiful. What a super fun memory you guys made! BLY cindy
