Yipppeeee! The Pink Pig is back! Opening day was Saturday, and keeping with our annual tradition, we were there to take a ride. This is our third year in a row attending opening day, and we were not disappointed. Macy's and CHOA went all out--the festivities included free rides in exchange for a letter to Santa, a deejay, face painting, pink pig balloons, tons of refreshments, free pink pig mugs, coloring pages, and bubbles--not to mention that famous "I rode The Pink Pig" sticker riders receive as they exit the big white tent housing the pig train.
The Pink Pig is such a fun tradition--and it is for a good cause, too. I recommend going before Thanksgiving before it gets too crowded, though. On Saturday, we had no wait for our first ride--and a very small wait (one ride's worth) for the second. Later on in the season, the line will extend from that infamous white tent in the Lenox upper parking deck (near Macy's) all the way to the mall entrance, into the mall, down the first hall, and around the corner toward the Macy's upper-level entrance (across from the Apple store). So yeah ... go early if you can. :o)
Kate had a ball on Saturday and talked about The Pink Pig and Priscilla for the rest of the day and all day yesterday. It is hilarious to hear her pronounce "Priscilla" (or try to). :o) We'll be back a time or two (or more)--maybe we'll see you there!
We have our picture made with Priscilla each year.
Here we are with the balloon guy. Sadly, Kate's pig balloon didn't last all morning. She loved that little piggie, though.
Kate was very intrigued by the hand painting.
Look! It's Priscilla! Isn't this fabulous? Even has a touch of sparkle.
On Saturday, if you wrote a letter to Santa, you could ride The Pink Pig for free! Here's is Kate's letter. We did the stamping/coloring before we left, and I wrote it for her in the car on the way over.
It wasn't too long before Jamie arrived! Yay!
The Hanley Family with Priscilla
The Baker Family showed up, too!
Steve and Jamie & Darryl and Cammie
Enjoying the ride with her pig ears on!
Cupcakes! You should have seen the spread! It was very nice!
There were even Pink Pig napkins!
Did I mention Kate has an obsession with suckers (and all things candy) lately?
Priscilla poses with the moms and the 2-year-olds
All aboard!
See you again soon!
The 4-1-1, in case you are wondering ...
FUN! FUN! FUN! Can't wait to go!
ReplyDeleteSO cute! I love all the stuff you do with Kate, and I love that we do so much of the same stuff :) I am surprised we don't run into each other more!
ReplyDeleteFun! We need to get together soon.
ReplyDeletePlease tell me where the Pig event was and who sponsored it. Our library is wanting to do a pig themed event and I would love to find out about the Pig Ride.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kay
Hi, Kay. The Pink Pig is a holiday tradition here in Atlanta. It is only up and operating during the holiday season--usually from the first full weekend in November through or around New Year's. It is set up in the upper parking lot near Macy's at Lenox Square Mall. If you google "The Pink Pig" and "Atlanta" or other similar terms, you can probably find lots of info. Also, feel free to click on The Pink Pig link/tag on the side of my blog (or at the bottom of any Pink Pig-themed posts) to read more. Hope this helps!
