Praying for Paco

Paco surrounded by his wife and children

It's been a very special Father's Day for many. We continue to pray for Paco. Yesterday he was so sweet. I was taking photos in his room at the Hospice House, and we were getting ready to say our goodbyes, as it was time to go. He then asks Nona, in Spanish, who I am, as he didn't recognize me. I hear her tell him, also in Spanish, that I am Cindy's sister. He then asks, "Is she the one who is married to the doctor?" We all laughed.

As I bid him farewell and kiss him on the cheek, he says to me, barely above a whisper, to please tell my husband hello. Tanna was sincerely touched that Paco remembered him and sent his greetings. We continue thinking about him and praying for the whole family.

Here is an excerpt from Anna's CaringBridge entry from today:

What a day it's been...many copious tears...red faces and lots of tissues spent...sweet, very sweet...After a good nap this afternoon, Daddy said he wanted to get in the wheelchair and go to the chapel for a service together. We were amazed at the change in him, as he spoke out passages to read (I Corinthians 11) and shared testimonies, asked for forgiveness, told of his sense of having failed in so many ways (sob), yet of God's amazing grace...All of the kids also asked forgiveness and extended our forgiveness to him...He prayed blessings upon us and our children...Thank you for your prayers for this special time together...a very precious gift indeed. ...
So, we are enjoying being together with all the 6 brothers and sisters, and are celebrating and grieving at the same time...it seems that the Lord has ordained that the best things in life are also the hardest...
Emmanuel, God is with us. May you also know His presence in the midst...Halleluyah.

A few more pics ...

My BIL Joe wheeling Paco into the chapel for worship today. Look at that smile!

This one cracks me up so much--Paco and his sons back at Christmastime.

Thanks, Mitzi and Elisa, for the photos. I stole them from your Facebook pages. ;o)

Here are Nona and Paco greeting four of their grandchildren (Josh, Sarah, Hannah and Caleb) at our wedding five years ago. Look at how little the kids are--Josh is now taller than all of us. LOL!
