'For this we have Jesus'

My Mom had surgery the other day on her breast. It's cancer. Not sure how bad it is, so we are staying positive--and we will continue to do so. She sees the surgeon again on Tuesday and will be having another surgery sometime soon. We sure appreciate your prayers.

In other news, my BIL Joe and nephew Joshua flew in last-minute from Europe late last week to see Joe's father, Paco, who is in Hospice. I drove up to Knoxville yesterday to see them, and Johnny and Robin drove down from the Tri. It was a quick trip, but we had a wonderful visit. It was great to see them as well as Nona and Paco, Paul (one of Joe's brothers), and Anna and Mary (two of Joe's sisters). Today will be a very special day for their family, as Paco will spend Father's Day surrounded by his awesome wife and all six of his children.

While it could always be worse, it seems our family has had a rough go of it the last few weeks. Within a month, in addition to the above ...

  • My grandmother died.
  • Two days later, I had a miscarriage and D&C.
  • Less than two weeks later, my sister Cindy (who also was expecting a December baby) had a miscarriage and D&C.

The good news is -- as Nona told me Friday night on the phone -- for this we have Jesus.

And thank God we do.

  3. Thanks for talking about life the way it REALLY is—messy. I've not had the month you're having, but the idea that life is not safe is definitely getting pounded into me these days...
