Fernbank Fun

On Saturday, we took advantage of Bank of America's Museums on Us program and visited the Fernbank Museum of Natural History.

Kate's favorite thing was climbing the stairs.

She enjoyed this DNA exhibit, too. "Balls!" she said.

Speaking of balls, she had fun with this flower/pollen game.

More fun in the children's play area.

So scientific.

Our bubble experiment. We are hoping to get published soon with our groundbreaking results and conclusions.

You can't visit Fernbank without seeing dinosaurs.

We'd just finished filming a scene for "Land of the Lost" and took a photo break. When we were little and would go to my grandparents' house, my siblings and I would pretend that passing cars were dinosaurs. We would hide from them on the front porch behind the chairs--or under the porch. That has nothing to do with Fernbank. But did you know that dinosaur fossils were later discovered very close to my grandparents' home in Gray Station, Tennessee? Coincidence? I think not.

Jurassic Park, anyone? Man, just thinking of that movie brings back a lot of memories. LOL!

While we were there, Tanna got a work-related call and had to step out of the room where we were. I didn't see where he went, so when it was time to go, I picked up Kate and was walking out, calling, "Tanna!" She repeated a few times, "Tanna! Tanna!" I just had to laugh!

Oh yeah, this was so cute, too. (Maybe only I think it's cute, but that's OK. I am her mother.) Tanna visited the restroom for a minute, and we were waiting for him on the ground level, which is an open area. We were across the room when I saw Tanna walk out and said, "There's Ah-Pah!" Kate took of running in a full sprint and ran straight into his arms, squealing with delight. It was adorable. She typically does that when he comes home from work, but it was fun to see in such a big space. I wish I'd had the camera rolling.

Thanks, Fernbank and Bank of America! We had a fun family outing!
