I wrote a few weeks ago about this gem--The Jesus Storybook Bible by Sally Lloyd-Jones. Kate received a copy for her 2nd birthday. Well, I wanted to spread the word that the deluxe edition is coming out next month! And by doing so ... I am entering a contest to win a whole case of the new book. If I win (big if, I know), then I will give a couple of the deluxe editions away here!
Anyway, what I was most excited to learn about the deluxe edition is that it features audio CDs of the complete book. And do you know whose voice is on those CDs, reading the Bible stories? None other than Britain's own David Suchet. I love his voice.
A few years back, Tanna and I attended The Church of The Apostles here in Atlanta. During that time, Dr. Youssef, the founding rector of the church, was preaching about Jacob and Esau and their crazy parents, Isaac and Rebekah. Also during that time, the church was doing something a little different (to me, anyway) during the worship service. Instead of Dr. Youssef or someone else reading the Bible from the pulpit, pre-recorded audio of the selected Scripture was played. And guess whose voice was delivering the Word of God? That's right--David Suchet! I just love his voice, and I started looking forward to hearing him read the Bible to the congregation each week. I still sometimes hear his voice in my head when thinking about Isaac, Rebekah, Jacob and Esau. (What a family, huh? But that is beside the point.)
Anyway, I was excited to learn that Suchet will be sharing The Jesus Storybook Bible via CD with the new deluxe edition. And--get this--you can purchase the audio separately if you like!
Also ... check out the new Web site for more details about the book and how you can enter this fun contest, too! (But hurry--the contest ends tomorrow!) Oh, yeah--on the Web site, you can hear some samples of the audio, too! Good stuff!
P.S. I became a Facebook fan of The Jesus Storybook Bible and was pleasantly surprised to see that it is available in several languages, including Korean! Very cool.
Ok, I so want a copy of the deluxe edition if you win...
