Family Night: Alphabet Night

Seeing how Kate has been obsessed with letters for a while now, I thought an alphabet-themed family night would be appropriate. Said family night finally took place last month. And I am finally getting around to posting about it.

This one was so easy. We already had plenty of alphabet-themed materials, including place mats, books, letter magnets, stickers, toys, flash cards, etc. I just gathered them all together and arranged them on the table.

Kate wore her alphabet shirt, and Tanna and I both wore shirts that had letters on them. ha!

We sang the ABC song and looked at some alphabet books. Kate loves her letter magnets. She often requests to "play magnets," especially after dinner.

In this picture, Kate is playing with the LeapFrog Alphabet Pal caterpillar. You can see that she has been enjoying those letter stickers.

I had some alphabet stamps (from my big scrapbooking days), but I don't think we actually used them. We did some painting instead. Had to get some letters in there so it fit with the theme, you know. We don't want a visit from the Family Night police or anything!

A small sampling of our ABC media. There's also The Letter Factory DVD (by LeapFrog), which is a big hit in these parts.

Kate's dinner menu consisted of things that started with the letters A, B and C! So simple because she typically eats things like Applesauce, green Beans, Chicken, etc.

This was easy-peasy ... just had to look around to see all the themed things we had on hand. The idea is to spend time together as a family. It was a fun evening!

  1. What a great idea. I wish I had the time to do that. I think when the girls are older I'll at least organize a family game night. That might be more my speed ;)
