Family Photo Shoot Survival Kit

We are having our family Christmas photos taken this afternoon by Jody Lynn Photography. We've been through this a time or two, so I have a running list in my mind of items to take along on such an outing. Here is my bag and pile so far. I am sure I'm probably forgetting something and will add to it before we're out the door.

In the picture:
  • big ol' bag (duh)
  • backup outfit for toddler ... because, well, you never know.
  • holiday props: "Merry Christmas" sign, big candy canes, lollipops
  • bribery: suckers, M&Ms
  • snacks: sippy of water, fishy crackers
  • bubbles and extra solution
  • comb, extra hair bows and baggie of hair elastics
  • lint roller
  • lotion (Who wants scaly skin wishing them a Merry Christmas?)
  • reindeer stuffed animal
  • small holiday-themed toys that toddler might hold to keep her still
  • scissors (no loose threads here)
  • wipes
  • backup lipstick, compact, lip balm
  • ETA: tissues!
I already remembered something else to add--jingle bells. What do you take to your family photo sessions?

  1. Wow! You are an Uber mommy! I never bring anything. Maybe I should start :) Can't wait to see the photos.

  2. But can you come with me and bring your bag of stuff? ;) I never worry about needing anything when the two of us are out together ... we pretty much have it covered.

That's pretty much it. On two of Amelia's photo shoots, I actually forgot a clean diaper. So she is wearing a cloth burp cloth under her clothes in her 6 month photos. It's pink, and you can kind of see it through her clothes. : )

No, I'm exaggerating. You know I bring extra clothes and hair accessories. And I did think to bring a stuffed lion that one time (to go with her Leo shirt) (though I forgot shoes). But we never have to wait long at Portrait Innovations, and they have a block table Amelia likes, so I don't have to bring stuff to amuse her.

  4. Kristi, there is a comb in the photo. TIA!

    ;o)

The wait at our PI isn't like yours, which is why I try to get the first appointment of the day when we go there.
