Going Back In Time @ The Atlanta History Center

My brother and his family came for a visit last week during their spring break. The afternoon of their arrival (Monday), we ventured over to the Atlanta History Center. As you may know, we are members there, and we all could get in free with our membership. (I LOVE memberships that allow you to add/bring guests.) We had a lovely time, despite the heat. It was H-O-T!

Johnny, Anne, Abigail & Anna-Claire in front of the Swan House. We didn't tour this one, but we did tour the Tullie Smith Farm House. We were excited to get in on the last tour of the day, as a matter of fact.

Hmmmmmm ...

Posing for a picture while we wander the grounds ...

In front of the traveler's room (just off of the front porch) of the farm house. Turns out, I watched Kate and Anna-Claire while the others took the tour inside the home. Believe me, this way the tour was more enjoyable for all involved. LOL! A few weeks ago when we were there, some hand lotion kept Kate occupied for most of the tour--but she still had her moments. I didn't have any hand lotion or much of anything else to keep her occupied on this day. So we stayed outside.

A-C, Kate and I ran around the farm property and took photos. Well, I took the photos and they posed (or ignored me).

Two smiles--not bad! Not bad at all!

The flowers around the farm house are just beautiful!

See?

Kate wanted the chairs on the front porch arranged just so. (She is like that.) She even got A-C in on the action.

Pierce fam on the front porch. They really enjoyed the tour!

Abigail is into Laura Ingalls Wilder (like her mother :o)) and Little House on the Prairie, so this was right up their alley. They said their tour guide was great, too!

Did I mention how HOT it was that day? So weird, because it had snowed, like, just the week before, right?

Back inside the main building, we enjoyed the air-conditioning and the Olympics exhibit. Here are A-C, Johnny and Abs getting ready to run the track.

Champions!

Abigail got this cool bonnet in the gift shop. Apparently, they had just come in and are a popular item. Funny story: Abigail learned on the farmhouse tour that "Peachtree" perhaps came from early settlers mishearing Native Americans say "Pitch Tree." So every time we got on Peachtree (or mentioned Peachtree), she reminded us that it was really "Pitch Tree." It became a joke for this trip. LOL!

Later that evening, we enjoyed our first meal on our new dining-room table. Tanna made spaghetti and meatballs. Yum!
