To say that my brother is a fan of The Weather Channel would be an understatement. He will have TWC on like other people have the radio on. I remember back when we shared an apartment, he would have the television tuned in to TWC all the time. When my SIL was in labor with Abigail, their first-born, guess what was on the hospital television? And these days, my SIL is a fan as well. Johnny and Anne know all the on-air meteorologists' names and often refer to them on a first-name basis. LOL! They were so excited late last year when, on a trip to Atlanta, they spotted Vivian Brown with her family at The Pink Pig. (You can read about that encounter here. :o))
So ... there's that part of the story.
Now, as you may know, I am a member of a few online communities. One such group I have been a part of for about six years now. Participants come and go, but many of the ladies have been around for a long time--and some have become IRL friends. One of the gals is Jessica, who happens to be a producer for TWC. Until last week, I had not met Jess in real life, but we have exchanged messages online.
A few years back, I contacted Jess and told her about my brother's love for all things TWC and to see if TWC does tours, etc. (I had looked on the Web site but didn't see any information about it.) She told me that they didn't really, but she might be able to show my brother around sometime when he was in town. When Johnny and Anne would visit, I would remember TWC too late to look into it--or our schedule would be pretty full already.
But not this year! I actually remembered ahead of time and was able to contact Jess to see if she could show them around. And she could! I was so excited, but I didn't tell Johnny and Anne about it in case it ended up not working out. After they arrived on Monday, I told them that they were going to tour TWC on Tuesday morning. You would have thought they'd won the lottery! LOL! Seriously, they were so excited--and I was excited for them.
Jess met them in front of the building and showed them around TWC offices and studio. As Anne said, she and Johnny were on cloud nine! (Get it? LOL!) I waited in the van with the girls, as taking three little girls--two of them being toddlers--into TWC in the middle of a work day probably isn't the best idea. hahaha! Afterward, I was so glad to finally meet Jess in person! (THANKS AGAIN!)
Johnny and Anne thoroughly enjoyed their tour and talked about it the rest of the trip. A night or two after they got back home, I called Johnny. When he answered the phone, I said (only half jokingly), "Are you watching 'Storm Stories'?" And he was. LOL! That's my brother.
Here are some photos ...
Cute display in the lobby--I just love the umbrellas!
Another shot of the cute umbrella display
While J&A were inside, this is what we were doing. The girls enjoyed some suckers and watching a DVD. Abigail is wearing her bonnet from the Atlanta History Center. LOL!
Here are Johnny and Anne with Jessica--she is expecting a little girl this summer.
Thanks again, Jess! It was so nice to meet you in person finally! (It was bright out that day, if you couldn't tell. ha)
What a neat tour! Gotta heart bumpie connections :) That was so sweet of Jess!
ReplyDeleteYou know I'm LOVIN' those umbrellas. I'm tempted to do that in a room of my house LOL!
