Palm Sunday & an Easter Party

At our church on Palm Sunday, the Sunday school children--led by a real-live donkey--parade through the sanctuary during the service waving palm branches. It is cute and meaningful at the same time. The 2-year-old classes have their own parades in the halls of the Sunday school area, so Kate didn't participate in the big processional this year--but she will next year. This was my first year to participate as a Sunday school teacher, and it was fun. The kids really seem to enjoy it, and it helps the Palm Sunday story come to life.

Our church also has other animals on hand for the children to enjoy. This year, in addition to a couple of donkeys, there were bunnies, goats, lambs and some sort of miniature cow. They were cute, and the kids just love petting them. We took our Sunday school class, and then afterward I took Kate out to see the animals again, though I think she was more interested in going to the playground.

Hosanna!

It was a cloudy/rainy day, so the animals were in a covered area. In past years, they have been out on the front lawn of the church.

After lunch, Kate and I attended an Easter party at a friend's house.

I just loved all the decorations! My sister REALLY gets into decorating for all the different holidays--she would have really enjoyed the details, too.

Yummy cupcakes!

The kids hunted eggs--two or three times, in fact. :o)

Some of the eggs were hidden up high.

Hey--this is a carrot!

Nancy took this one and the previous two--thank you!

Kate loved finding eggs, but I think she may have enjoyed playing basketball even more. Here she is with host Gavin.

Here's Gavin with his Mommy & Daddy (Nancy and Joe)--thanks for a great party!

Group shot of some of the party people. The nice lady (in the bunny ears) next to Kate is Nancy's mother--she supplied all the wonderful decorations and did such a nice job with everything. You can tell she taught kindergarten for many years. It was a fun party, and Kate didn't want to leave. (Believe me.) :o) Hoppy Easter!
