We got these dresses for only $1.99!
Back in January, Gymboree had an unprecedented sale, marking many items (from a new line!) down to $4.99 ... and then--less than a week later--down to $1.99. The timing of that second markdown is very important because it meant that folks who bought items at the $4.99 price point could get a price adjustment on their sale goodies. And that included me!
It was quite by accident that I found out about this sale and was able to make it. I happened to log into GymboFriends late one night--the night before this sale hit. There was quite a bit of chatter about possible markdowns, but not a lot of confirmation about what exactly was going to be marked down and if it was really true. Word on the Gymbo Street was that this sale even took some of the employees by surprise.
Well, Kate happened to have a speech appointment that next morning. And guess what is just about five or 10 minutes from where she went to speech? A MALL! It just so happened that her appointment that morning was either at 10:30 or 10:45--meaning that if I was waiting at the Gymboree door at opening, I had just enough time to grab a few sale items, check out and make it to our appointment. And that's exactly what I did! I was even a few minutes early! I got lots of goodies for Kate and for our four nieces in Tennessee--all for only $4.99! Later that week, all I had to do was take my receipts* back to get a price adjustment/refund when everything had been marked to $1.99. (*Yes, I hit another Gymboree later that day looking for some different sizes.)
Anyway, here is some of the fruit of that labor--cousins all matched up at the beach. We were just talking about how it won't be much longer that we'll be able to get away with stuff like this. I think they all look adorable, even if they all weren't overly excited about the photo sessions. HA! Where else can you outfit five girls for only about $10? :o) Thanks, Gymboree, for the great deals!
We have tons of photos of the girls in their matching outfits--not to mention lots more great deals from the $1.99 sale that weren't necessarily matching--but here is just a small sampling ...

I think Kate was over it at this point. :o)
