Today was
Fernbank's Community Day, so we took advantage of the free-admission deal and met Luann and Trey there this morning. It is a very nice museum with some interesting exhibits--but there is a lot of evolution crap, so I can't necessarily recommend it if you are going to fork out any money. Sorry, but that's just the way it is, folks. Come to think of it ... I'm not sorry. So there.

Still, we had a good time, and the kids enjoyed the children's play area. My favorite part was the cultural exhibit, which showcases many different types of apparel and other items from various cultures around the world. It reminded me of a project I did for one of my fashion classes--it was called "How Clothing Communicates." I suppose it makes sense that I would like this exhibit the best because I'm not really a sciencey person or a naturey person--and I guess most of the other exhibits were more like that. I mean, it's the Fernbank Museum of Natural History, after all.
As an aside, I did advance to the county science fair and then to the regional science fair twice in my middle school career. So, like math, I can DO science--it's just doesn't top my list of favorite subjects. I actually saw some people I knew at the museum! They are former Knoxville residents and friends of my sister and brother-in-law, and they were there with three of their kids today! Seeing them was pretty neat because I hardly ever just run into someone I know in the city. (Well, I should take that back because I do see neighbors at the grocery store quite often ... but I don't think that should count. But I digress ... )
So after the museum, we hit up
Fellini's for some pizza. It was a beautiful day, so we sat outside. It was a nice outing, and we enjoyed it!
Sounds like a great day! :) Kate looks adorable in her Hippo outfit! :) Glad you all had a good time!
