Nine Things ...

So Kate turns 10 months old tomorrow! I am in disbelief! Before the clock strikes midnight (or 6:13 a.m., to be exact), I thought I'd jot down (or type up, rather) nine of her favorite 9-month-old activities ... at least around the house ...

1. Crawling. Kate is as fast as ever! If you turn your back for even a second, there's no telling where she will end up! This girl is very mobile, and she loves to go! (Notice she's enjoying her new Pacimals pink pig--more on that in an upcoming post!)

2. Cruising. This girl is getting more and more brave in her cruising abilities. She cruises around all the living-room furniture and just about anything else she can pull up on! Speaking of, she pulls up on anything she can find--including my legs, for example, if I'm standing at the sink washing dishes! Ha! She can pull up on walls and stand with only one hand holding the wall for support. It's just a matter of time before she is standing on her own ... and then walking! Yikes! Then we are really in trouble!

3. Climbing. Kate is a climber! This is a photo of her after she climbed into her laundry basket all by herself. She also climbs under her high chair (which isn't as easy as it sounds). If Tanna and I are lounging around out in the sunroom, she'll crawl on over and climb on top of one or both of us! She tries to climb other things (such as our shoe rack), but ... being the mean mommy that I am sometimes ... I have to put a stop to it before it goes too far.

4. Shaking paper. Kate has enjoyed shaking papers and bags and such for a while now. The interest is still going strong, as you can see from this photo (taken just the other day) of her and the Sunday-paper inserts.

5. Looking at our washer/dryer. Kate has an interesting fascination with our washer/dryer, which is in our kitchen. (I'll have to post about our washer/dryer one day--it's an all-in-one unit, and is quite interesting, I think.) Anyway, Kate loves it. She is drawn to it ... like a moth to a porch light. She has taken to pulling up on it and turning the little knob, which makes a cool clicking sound. I have to be careful to make sure that the door is closed because she could easily smash her tiny little fingers in there.

6. Knocking shoes off of the shoe rack. Like most all Korean households, we don't wear shoes inside our place. Thus, right by the door is a shoe rack where most of our shoes live. Kate likes to crawl over there and knock shoes off. She's even tried to climb the thing (see No. 3). For some reason, she has a strange attraction to my pink Crocs. She will go straight to them every time. Her shoes are kept in her room in an over-the-door shoe holder. She likes to play with that, too, come to think of it.

7. Knocking papers and other things off of the coffee table. As she cruises around the Monopoly table in our living room, Kate loves to make a clean sweep! We have to be careful about what we happen to leave out on the table. Because whatever it is, odds are it will end up on the floor in a matter of minutes!

8. Ringing the bells on our door.
So we have these bells on our door. Yes, like sleigh bells. I think I bought them at a Christmas shop or from a store's holiday selection. Anyway, I put them on our door. I might have done so at Christmas one year and just never took them off. I like them, though, because not only do we give out wings with every opening of our door ... but also the ring-ring-ringing of the bells lets me know that Tanna is home (yay!) or that we have company or the like. Also, if someone tried to get in through that door in the middle of the night, then we'd probably hear those bells! Anyway, Kate likes to ring them.

9. Playing with her Ah-Pah. When Ah-Pah (that's Korean for "Daddy") comes home from work, Kate usually enjoys a smoochfest on her cheeks and then a tickle fest on her belly! She also enjoys being held or tossed in the air (but not too high, of course). Kate sure loves her Ah-Pah, and so do I!

And, as a bonus, a few other things she likes to do around here: Play with her toys (of course), try to get into the bathroom, push open doors that aren't shut all the way, and open drawers. I know there are more, but that'll do for now. On to 10 months we go! Can't wait to see what she's into this time next month ...
