'Green Is the New Black'

"Green is the new black." Have you heard this yet? For me, it's been one of those things that I all of a sudden have been seeing or hearing everywhere (or at least twice in a day or so). I am going to confess something that probably only the people very close to me already know: I am not a green person. I am probably the least green person I know. I know--that's bad. Please don't stone me.

Another confession: I'm not even an "outdoorsy" type of person. Not even close. Can you imagine me living in Boone, North Carolina? I know. ... It is kind of funny, huh? Yeah, I felt kind of guilty when we were at the Atlanta Botanical Garden recently because I am sure I didn't appreciate all of the beautiful flowers and plants the way I should have. ... But I digress ...

As we all know, "going green" is all the rage. Being green and environmental was also popular back when I was in high school, and I was all about it. I was interested in recycling and using earth friendly products and such. But that kind of faded over time, I guess, and life happened.

But I recently took a step toward going green! I purchased a reusable canvas bag for our groceries! Tanna said he was proud of me. It might not seem like much, but it's a step in the right direction, right? Also, we've been walking to the grocery store more. In fact, we just walked there as a family earlier this evening. With the gas prices what they are, how can we not? Anyway, every little bit helps--this may just be the beginning.

After all, if green IS the new black ... well, you all know how I feel about black ...

  1. I so need to go green. I'm so wasteful that it's a shame.

  2. I am really LOL at your post. You are very funny. Bruce was LOL too. We like to try to be a little more green around here, but I do keep forgetting my grocery bags when I go to the store.
