One Day More!

OK, I have, like, 153 blog posts to catch up on (on which to catch up) ... but ... right now I have to tell you how excited I am about tomorrow night!

Tanna and I are going to see Les Miserables at The Fox Theatre! Fabulous!

I. Can't. Wait.

As I type this, the DH and I are listening to Les Mis. Yes, we are dorks. But at least we don't sit through the show and sing the songs. (Someone did this one time we saw it. Seriously.)

Anyway, this will be the fourth time we've see Les Mis together. Tanna has actually seen it more--he is the person who really introduced the show to me, come to think of it.

Tennessee--2001
No photos of the actual night out, but here we all are the next day. Oh, and I actually had saved my ticket stub--found it in the photo album when I went looking for a photo.

The first time was in Knoxville, and it was 2001. I had written an advance story about the Les Mis showing, although now I can't remember who I interviewed. Tanna and some friends (Susan and Sharik) drove up, and we all went on a double date--even though Tanna and I were not dating at the time, and Susan and Sharik were already married. I had just moved to a new apartment that very day, and I was exhausted. But we still had fun! Unfortunately, the photos from that night did not turn out. This was back in the day of film, and the film had been exposed. You can imagine my disappointment, especially after getting a random stranger to take a group photo of us outside after the show. Oh well. What can you do?

New York--2001
We bought the Mickey Mouse umbrella off of a street vendor because, well, it was raining.

The next time was the same year, only it was in New York at Christmastime. I was there working, and Tanna had taken some time off from his last year of med school because he had broken his ankle (that's another story). Anyway, one of his best friends also was in New York for work at the time, and so Tanna came up to visit. We still were not dating, but the night was magical. It was truly so much fun. I had gotten the tickets off of eBay, and we had freaking fourth-row seats. This is on Broadway, people! We were sitting so close we could see the spit from the performers as they sang. We didn't feel any spit, though, so that was good. LOVED IT. And we were so thankful to see it on Broadway before it closed. Yay.

Atlanta--2003
On our way into the theatre. Not the best pic, but we were in a hurry if I remember correctly.

We saw Les Mis again here in the ATL in 2003--this same month, as a matter of fact. That was a very special night because it was the night we got engaged! I remember seeing a billboard advertising the tour earlier that year when I was in the process of moving to the metro area. We knew we just had to go! Anyway, Tanna got us tickets, and the rest is history! We had a wonderful evening. That was my first experience at The Fox. We enjoyed the show ... and afterward, when we stopped at his place on the way home, Tanna asked me to marry him!

I said yes in case you didn't know.

I guess it was sometime last year when I saw that Les Mis was going to be on the 2008 schedule. I ripped out the little writeup about it, and it's been on the side of our fridge ever since. So tomorrow night is going to be fun! We're double dating with Jennifer and Daniel--looking forward to it!

Sing with me:

ONE DAY MORE ...

  4. Yea for Les Mis! My husband and I saw it Sunday night for like the 4th time (we're obsessed with it too and it's kind of like 'our show.') :) Be sure to check your program. They show a picture of the guys who play Valjean and Javert and look like they are both in their early 30's, which I wasn't expecting (from our seats we couldn't see their faces, haha). They also made a few changes, like set changes (no revolving stage) and some different song arrangements. Have fun!
