Tennessee Fever

Tanna has discovered a new illness, and I keep telling him that he needs to write it up and get it published. But it looks like I am beating him to the punch. Can I put this "journal article" on my CV?

Anyway, Tanna termed the sickness "Tennessee Fever," and it sometimes can be difficult to diagnose because it has a lot of non-specific symptoms. Symptoms can include but are not limited to: headache, congestion, fever, general "yucky" feeling, loss of appetite, achy body, chills, nausea, and fatigue. The common denominator in all cases of Tennessee Fever to date is that they present a day or two after a patient returns from a trip to Tennessee.

Tennessee Fever is a running joke here, actually. It's so funny because almost every time we return from Tennessee, one or two of us usually gets to feeling bad. I had a classic case of Tennessee Fever earlier this week. I think a lot of it has to do with running around like crazy getting ready to go, running around like crazy once we are there, and then running around like crazy once we get back. It's so crazy.

I am feeling much, much better today--which is good because Kate and I are headed back to Tennessee this weekend.

So we may be sick again next week.

Even still, it's worth it.

  1. LOL at the Tennesee Fever. I'd have to share with my family. Fortunately, we haven't caught any when we go visit.

  2. Hey we have that too, except it hits us after every trip we take, regardless of the destination. Our symptoms are just as you described, but this dreaded illness affects our animals much worse, often killing one or more before we return, no matter how mature and loving the pet sitters are! Sarah says often our trip this fall will be so awesome.... but oh the return....all of us exhausted and half sick, jet lagged and getting sicker and seeing which of her beloved animals have died.

I tried to email you today, but it appears to have bounced. Did you get it? BLY!
