I wanted to share this New York Times article about Korean adoption. The article reiterates what we have heard--that South Korea aims to eliminate its foreign adoption program in just a few years because it hopes to increase the number of domestic adoptions there. But that is a huge challenge because of--as the article also explains--the stigma that some Koreans associate with adoption. In traditional Korean society, ancestry and bloodlines are extremely important. As a whitey, I have already messed that up for our family, though. ;o) But seriously, the article is an interesting read. Here is the link:
