Celebrity Saturday--Jenna Bush

Because it is her wedding day, I thought Jenna Bush would be a perfect candidate for today's Celebrity Saturday! We met Jenna Bush at a book signing back in October. Photos were allowed, but Miss Bush wasn't stopping to pose for pictures in order to keep the line moving. So this was the best we got. A guy who was in front of us took this photo--I took one of him and his kid(s) as well and e-mailed it to him later. (He gave me his business card to do so.) Anyway, I think his photo turned out better--ha! I actually had been looking at the camera, but Jenna Bush said something, and I didn't want to be rude by ignoring her to smile at a camera.

As an aside ... I had been looking forward to this book signing after I'd seen Jenna Bush promoting her book on television. But we almost didn't go because I had called the bookstore earlier in the day and was told that you had to be there by a certain time and they were only allowing so many people (or something like that), blah, blah, blah. Anyway, the lady who answered the phone all but said not to show up unless we followed the rules that she had just spouted off (with a really nice tone, as you can imagine). I should give her a break--maybe she was having a bad day, what with the Secret Service there and everything. Maybe they were all in her business ... Or maybe it was the Secret Service I was talking to ...

Anyway, long story short (really) ... we decided to just go and see what happens (which is easier said than done with a 3-month-old). And we were not disappointed. What's that popular saying--something about 90 percent of life being "just showing up"? (A quick Google search attributes that to Woody Allen, but that is not confirmed.) For what it's worth, I tend to agree with that quote--the "just showing up" worked in our favor this time.

We hope Jenna and Henry have a beautiful wedding day today--may the Lord bless their marriage.

ETA: Tanna just reminded me that the Secret Service actually searched Kate when we went through security. LOL! I can't believe I forgot about that! He just said he'd write about it on his blog ... but don't hold your breath.

  1. Well, they wanted me to shoot the wedding but, of course, I was already booked.

No, seriously, I do have a wedding in Virginia today, but not that one. I did work with the band that will do the reception in November, Big Ray and the Kool Kats.

Oh well. How was the book?

  2. Rebecca read the book in one sitting. She woke up the next morning with swollen eyes from crying. She said it was a great book.
