OK ... back by popular demand ... it's the monthly listing of things about the fabulous Kate Lim!
Before Kate turns 14 months old tomorrow ... here are 13 things about our little girl @ 13 months old:
1. In the last few months, she has gotten two new teeth--including a molar. Both of the newbies are on the bottom. She was cranky for a few days, but nothing a little Tylenol couldn't help. What a trouper!
2. She loves to bring things to you and hand them over ... and then take them back. LOL! So cute. She has the biggest smile on her face when she's giving you the latest trinket she's picked up.
3. This girl is OBSESSED with Tanna's top drawer in the bathroom. We have a double vanity, and Tanna and I each have two drawers. For some reason, she loves to go to Tanna's top drawer and dig in it. It used to be very neat and orderly--but no more! She is particularly drawn to his leave-in conditioner. His hairbrush is a close second.
4. Kate's play has progressed, as she is becoming more and more interactive while she plays. And it's so fun to watch her figure out new things for herself. She enjoys taking her toy kitchen items in and out of the play oven, microwave and fridge. She also has a new appreciation for her Little People school bus--she can now get on and off of it herself, and she loves to hit the buttons to play its sound effects. She also knows how to work the ball bopper--one of her birthday gifts and a new favorite. Other faves are the old-school Little People cars, her toy piggy bank (another birthday gift) and a Gymboree necklace.
5. She loves to climb into her laundry-basket-turned-toy-box and just sit on top of everything. She hasn't quite mastered getting out on her own, though.
6. Meal times are ... challenging. Kate gets a little dramatic when it is time to eat. She will fuss and cry before her first few bites of anything (even some of her favorite foods). She'll then calm down and eat, and then she will do it again when we start to feed her something else. Also, while in her highchair, she is constantly trying to turn around (the wall behind the highchair is 2/3rds mirror--you should see the handprints on it right now--LOL!) ... or look down/hide her face ... or throw her finger foods and/or sippy cup on the floor. Fun!
7. Kate doesn't have any grown-up English words just yet, but she speaks her own language. When it comes to her babbling, Kate seems to have a preference for the Old Testament. A couple of her favorite words are "Obadiah" and "Hezekiah." (While Hezekiah isn't an OT book, King H is mentioned many times in the Old Testament. He is actually mentioned in the New Testament, too, but just a few times. Just FYI in case you are ever on Jeopardy!) Seriously, it is funny to hear her babble because she will say things that sound like actual words. She also babbles in sentences with pauses and inflections in her voice, etc.
8. This girl likes to go, go, go. She does not like to be held or confined to her stroller for long periods of time. She now likes to walk to and from the car. It really is so cute to watch her walking like a big girl.
9. This one is kind of odd, considering how she doesn't like to be confined ... but this is Kate. She enjoys squeezing into tight spaces and also likes to sit with her back against a wall or other support. It's so funny to see her climbing under ... behind ... and/or in between things--or to look over and see her scooting herself against the wall so it's against her back. LOL!
10. She doesn't get to hang out in our room very much, but when she is in there, she loves to get on our bed and reach over the headboard to play with the vent that is in the wall partition thingy behind our bed. She also still enjoys knocking books off of the shelf--the little bookshelf in particular.
11. OK, Tanna thinks this is just a coincidence when she does this ... but I think she really knows. When I am feeding her Gerber baby food, I will ask her, "Where's the baby?" and she will point to the Gerber baby-face logo. If she doesn't point, then she will put her thumb on the baby's face. Speaking of ... yes, she still likes to eat a lot of baby food, but she is trying new foods all the time. Her faves are still CFA nuggets, fish crackers by Pepperidge Farm, applesauce, yogurt, oatmeal, cheese toast ... and many more.
12. Kate does NOT like to have her nose cleaned at all! Oh, she puts up quite a fight--but her Mommy is pretty persistent.
13. She is starting to wear some size 18-24 months clothes! Yikes--she is growing so fast!
And one to grow on:
Kate **loves** to climb stairs. We don't any in our place, but when we visit friends or relatives who have stairs, she enjoys scaling them!
_______
We love you, Kate! The last (almost) 14 months have been truly amazing. God has blessed us with your presence, and we are so grateful. We love you!
P.S. I thought of something else! I meant to list this with the others, but I forgot. Kate loves to take her shoes off. She knows how to work the straps on her sandals and other shoes, so off they come! And then she chews on them. ha!
What a great post. You're a wonderful momma!
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you're keeping all of this stuff. You will be glad you did!

My kids use to lick the bottoms of their shoes when they were strapped into the carseat and I was driving or couldn't reach them. GROSS! Hey, builds a good immune system, at least.
