Kate's 15 Deets @ 15 Months

Kate @ 15 months

So Kate turned 16 months yesterday. As usual, we can't believe it. I really think this will be my last installment of the monthly detail listings. But don't worry--I'll keep y'all up to date on what Kate is up to. Here are 15 things about Kate when she was 15 months old ...

(By the way, I am using present tense on these. Because I want to. So there.)

At 15 months, Kate:
  1. Has an unusual obsession with cotton swabs. She seeks them out. She knows where they are kept in the bathroom--and even when I switched the drawers around, she found them. She likes to pull them out of the glass jar where they live and carry them around. Crazy girl!
  2. Loves shoes. She will sit in my lap for me to put her socks and shoes on. She carries her various shoes around all the time.
  3. Likes to watch Peanuts videos. Don't worry--she still loves her Little People.
  4. Has a new favorite snack--pieces of Chex cereal! Of course, she still adores her goldfish crackers!
  5. Takes her pacis that are on the attaching ribbon thingies and then hangs them over her crib railing.
  6. Loves to babble away!
  7. Has started this thing where she pulls her arm up in her sleeve. She doesn't do it all the time, but it's just a funny thing she does sometimes. I guess this is a new thing since the last month or so is when she started wearing more long-sleeved tops.
  8. Is much better at tolerating hairbows and barrettes in her hair. Oh, and piggie tails, too.
  9. Loves loves to walk places like a big girl. We let her walk to and from the car a lot now.
  10. Knows which door is ours.
  11. Loves to turn lights on and off. She can work the traditional switch or the button.
  12. Enjoys playing with tissues. The other day, I gave her an almost-new box of tissues, and she had a blast pulling them all out ... all over the living room.
  13. Is obsessed with Mommy's purse and her Halloween jack-o-lantern. She loves to get into my purse and wallet--and empty them both. On the other hand, she carries her pumpkin around our place, putting various things in it. It's so funny to see her little menageries of random items.
  14. Is still a climber! The other day, I turned around and she was standing on top of the ottoman! She can get up there all by herself and then tries to scale the coffee table--but she gets stopped before that happens.
  15. Is such a happy little girl who brings us so much joy.

    And to grow on ...
  • She still sleeps like a champ.
  • Pulls her bib off and then tries to put it back on, but with no success. It's hilarious to watch, though.
  • Still loves to push her school bus, grocery cart, and stroller--all over the place!

  1. I love these.

Amelia just learned how to turn the TV on and off and adjust the volume; eject the stereo CD player; and flush the toilet. All of these things fascinate her.

I think pulling tissues our of a box and playing with mommy's purse are universal baby obsessions!

  5. Hey, Karen -- didn't get a chance to speak with you at the blog get-together on Saturday, but saw you from afar! It would have been fun to talk, because my youngest just turned 17 mos. I could definitely relate to your list -- goldfish crackers are pretty big at our house, too! :)

  8. i so wish we'd had an opportunity to chat sat. night, but we can get acquainted this way.

i think it's great you're keeping track of Kate's developments this way. i didn't have this tool when my son was little, and i wish i had! he's 14 now, and my memory isn't what i thought it would be!

i loved your post on billy graham, and i'm glad you posted about why OCC means so much to you. i had wanted to ask you about that at the party but didn't make it to you before we had to go!

  11. What a beautiful picture of Kate! I love it! :) What great info about our girl! She is quickly becoming more like a little girl than a baby these days(sniff, sniff!)- with her sweet little hair-do's, shoe and purse obsessions, etc. A little girly-girl! What a doll!
    bly!
