Kate's Actual Birthday

I realized I never wrote about Kate's actual birthday, which was July 8. We started the day off with her 2-year portrait sitting. I know! What fun for a 2-year-old, huh? I guess it's not the way Kate would choose to spend her morning, but we got it over with. LOL!

After the picture-taking and a run to Target while we waited for the prints, we hit Chick-fil-A for some birthday nuggets and came home. While Kate napped, I wrapped up her presents, which had been stashed in our bedroom closet since January! Yes, I shop that far in advance! Seriously, I bought all of her birthday gifts at 75 percent off (or close to it) at the after-Christmas toy clearance sales of Target and Wal-Mart. By this time, it was like my birthday because I got more space in our closet. (Although, Target just had its summer toy clearance, so now I have a few more things squirreled away in there for Christmas--LOL!)

Anyway, Kate's nap ran a little long (that's been happening a lot lately), and Tanna and I ended up waking her up after he got home from work so we could party! I set up a little birthday area in the sunroom, and we got down to the business of opening presents and having fun.

After dinner, we gave Kate a cupcake I'd bought at Publix. (The cupcake was a lot prettier before I dropped it in the hallway as we were coming home the day before. LOL! Don't worry--it was in a plastic container. ha!) We did the candle-and-song thing--but Kate didn't want anything to do with the cupcake (???), so we gave her a cookie instead. The cupcake was delicious! ;o) It was a low-key day, and we had a nice little celebration with just us. Of course, we partied it up at CFA a few days later with friends and family. ;o) It has been a wonderful two years! We are so thankful that God has entrusted this little girl to our care while we are here on earth. Thank You, Lord!

  1. Is that 2007 wrapping paper in honor of her birth year? Will you use it every year?

  4. My Chloe will be two August 29th and I can't believe the gift I've been entrusted with as well. I finally bit the bullet and made an appt for a speech and hearing evaluation. Your bravery in that area has inspired me. I'll post Chloe birthday pics on FB after her big day and her gift bags are inspired by the cow bags you created. Thanks for the constant inspiration and entertainment I get from your blog :)

  5. Hey, all--sorry I am so late with responding! If I remember correctly, my sister picked up that 2007 paper at Hallmark on sale. And yes, it's in honor of Kate's birth year. I think I may have used it all up this go-around, though.

Susan, I can't wait to see your Chloe's birthday photos--did you delete your FB account, though. I tried to send you a message and cant find you. I wanted to ask you how Chloe's speech was coming along.

Thanks for all the nice comments! :o)
