Last week, after reading about blogger Holly's Oscar Mayer Wienermobile sighting in the city, I set out on a quest to find this famous hot dog--if it was still in the metro area. I put out a few APBs online (Facebook, Twitter, a message board, etc.). It worked, too! I got word from Kate's preschool director when the Wienermobile drove by our local Whole Foods that night. And later in the evening, Holly commented here on the blog when the hot dog was back at its hotel near her home.
So Saturday morning, bright and (not that) early, we drove over that way. But we were too late. Kate likes to sleep in when we have morning plans, so we didn't make it to the hotel area until after 9 a.m. I DID run into Holly's DH and her twin boys. So sweet. Tanna was completely embarrassed that I went up to the DH (who was on the phone, no less), introduced myself and asked about the giant hot dog. The DH was completely kind and polite, of course. (Thanks, Tripper!) He pointed the way to where the Wienermobile had been parked the previous two nights--but alas ... we missed it.
We had a very full day of activities--but on our way home that night, we drove by again. And this time ... SUCCESS! It was getting dark, so the photos are not the best. That's OK, though. We saw the Wienermobile! (I've actually seen it a few times, but I wanted to get a photo of Kate with this little piece of Americana. ha!) As George Bailey might say ... "HOT DOG!"
Thar she blows!
Notice the dogs on the dash.
Cheese!
As the Wienermobile folks might say, "Franks for looking!"
P.S. Be sure to check out the Hotdogger Blog to read about life inside the Wienermobile!
Wienermobile? Cool! :)
