Please join us in thanking God for Isaac Yo-han, our soon-to-be son, Lord willing! :o) Our referral acceptance was official today--YAY! Another round of paperwork has been completed, and so we wait for the next round. We hope Isaac will be home by his first birthday; he is currently about 6 months old. (I am not able to share his actual birthday at this time.)
A little about his name: I have always liked the name Isaac and the story of how he was born to Sarah and Abraham in their old age--Isaac himself was a reminder of how God always fulfills His promises. The meaning of the name refers to laughter because Sarah laughed at God's promise to give her and Abraham a child when they were so "up in years." We know who had the last laugh--LOL! Seriously, though, who doesn't love to laugh? You can read more about the name Isaac here.

Yo-han is John in Korean. This is his current Korean name--after the Gospel of John, or as Tanna says, after the Apostle John--and we will keep it as his middle name. There are already a couple of Johns (Jonathan, Johnny, etc.) in my family, and we love the name. Also, it is important to keep part of his given name, as it is a critical piece of his identity. Tanna's parents may give him an additional Korean name after they see him, as is customary--or since he has a Korean name already, they may not add another.
Isaac Yo-han's birth mother is Korean, and his birth father is Caucasian and from Europe. His birth mother specifically requested that he be placed with a blended family (like ours). In all the different scenarios that ran through my mind, this is something I had never anticipated--but, of course, welcomed! Apparently, (please correct me if I am wrong) it is my understanding that this is not a very common situation in the world of Korean adoption. This is one reason we received a referral much sooner than we thought we would. It is interesting because I thought we could receive a referral ahead of the average wait time because of Tanna's Korean heritage--but it hadn't occurred to me that we might get a quicker referral because of both of our backgrounds. God is good!
Please keep in mind that there is always a small chance that things could fall through due to unforeseen circumstances. After all, nothing is official and final until it's official and final. And so we continue to wait ... to hope ... to pray ... to prepare. Thank you for joining us on this journey, and thank you for your prayers.
