Korean Adoption Outing

Last Saturday, we attended a fun outing for area families who are adopting from Korea. Our social worker, Laura, and her husband, Jason--who have started the process to adopt from Korea themselves--organized the event. A total of five couples (including us) were able to participate. It is always nice to connect with others who are going through the adoption process. This particular outing was special because we were able to share our referral news with the group at lunch. :o)

Speaking of lunch, our outing started at Jang Won Jung, a Korean restaurant in Duluth. After we ate, we all went over to the Pleasant Hill shopping center anchored by the Super H Mart, a huge Korean grocery store. We first went to a Christian book store, where Tanna and I purchased a framed Scripture for our new home as well as a board book for our new son. The board book features The Lord's Prayer and is in Korean and English (as is the wall art).

After a stop in a nearby baby store, we headed to Super H Mart. I'd actually looked in the baby store a few times, and we've been to H Mart several times. It's such a neat super market, and it's fun to go with others and see what they pick out. I didn't realize there was a Christian bookstore nearby, though, and I want to go back when I can look a little longer (without being distracted by a cute 2-year-old). :o) Speaking of that 2-year-old, we ended up leaving early because her nap was overdue. Within a few minutes of pulling out of the parking lot, she was sound asleep and slept all the way home. In fact, Tanna napped with her in the car right in the driveway. (They would have pulled in the garage, but there are still lots of boxes in there. But I digress ...)

Thanks, Jason and Laura, for such a great outing. It was so nice to see familiar faces and to make some new friends. We hope to see everyone again sometime soon!

P.S. Bridgette wrote about our adventures on her blog, too--check it out!

  2. Fun! Have you checked out the H Mart at Peachtree Industrial Blvd? We need to have an outing there! They have this Korean shop that houses the most adorable kid's clothes.
