Bits and Pieces

Here are some very random things from the last week or two (in no particular order) ...

  • Kate loves watching her Baby Einstein video, a gift from Karen. She doesn't watch it all at once, but she'll sit (or stand, if she's in her crib) and watch it for a few minutes--which is nice when I need a few moments to finish getting ready, etc. The above photo was taken during the mad dash called "getting ready for church."
  • For the first time, someone asked me (in a nice way) if Kate was adopted. She followed with ... "Or is your husband Asian?"

  • We had another play date at the park. Kate *loved* crawling in the grass. That girl is fast! She enjoyed hanging out with Jamie, Trey and new friend Jessica--and she was all about Trey's firetruck toy! It was all the rage. Be sure to check out Luann's post about it, too!
  • It's pollen season in Atlanta. Everything outdoors, it seems, is covered in a layer of yellow. I wouldn't want to be in charge of washing cars at a dealership these days.
  • In the last few days, Kate has started clapping her hands! I have been clapping her hands for her while we go through the ABCs each morning. It's so cute to see her do it herself. Her hands miss each other half of the time, but it's still adorable to watch.
  • It's Gymbucks redemption time! I could write a whole post about how Gymboree can be cheaper than Wal-Mart. It's true. And I have receipts to prove it.
  • I am posting this from our new computer. We made the switch, and Steve Jobs would be so proud. (I actually have an iBook, but I haven't used it in a while.) It's amazing how much cleaner our desk looks.

  • How about those Lady Vols!? National champions AGAIN!
  • Tanna had some friends over for gumbo and final-four basketball.

  • Kate has gone through a "spitting food" phase. She would spit her food while making a sort of raspberry sound--and then she would laugh/smile. It was not funny, however, when food would land all over my face, shirt, the table cloth, etc. It also is taking her longer for her to finish a bottle--she is too interested in getting down and exploring everything. What happened to our excellent eater?
  • Kate ate yogurt for the first time today.
  • Kate met Tanna's friend Mike (who was in town from Colorado) for the first time yesterday. Mike was the Tanna's best man. Funny story: Last year, Tanna had to work the second shift on our anniversary, and Mike happened to be in town. As it turns out, Mike ended up taking me out to eat that night. We joked that he was going above and beyond fulfilling his duties as best man--in the event that the groom cannot take the bride out on the couple's anniversary, then it is the best man's responsibility to do so. LOL! (Tanna and I celebrated our anniversary the next day.)

  • Kate also met Rebecca (of Shawn and Rebecca from Florida) for the first time. She met Shawn back in February when he was in the ATL for business.
  • Celebrity Baby Blog actually linked to this site again! The post was about people who blog about CBB.
  • It's a small world, after all! I started keeping a random list of countries from which folks were visiting this blog: China, Korea, France, United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Belgium, Norway, Austria, Germany, Taiwan, Brazil, Sweden, Japan, Finland, Netherlands, Spain. Pretty neat, huh?
  • I saw another Smart Car in the Target parking lot today! They are popping up all over the place! Saw a scooter there, too.
  • The author of Urban Babies Wear Black left a nice comment on this site. :o)

  • Some friends and I attended a big ol' Mary Kay event. A big-time national sales leader spoke--actually, two of them did. They were excellent speakers, but the event wasn't quite what we'd envisioned. There was a deejay and line dancing involved--not exactly what we had in mind ... but it was a fun night!
  • I have some freelance work to do. ... I should go now.

How is Gymboree cheaper than WalMart...I love Gymboree and would love to get away with it on the cheap!!

How do you meet so many celebrities?!

Are you involved with Mary Kay...as in a consultant type way?
