This week's celebrity is the Rev. Franklin Graham-- evangelist, ministry leader, author, and son of Billy Graham. Why did I choose Franklin Graham this week? Well, I am glad you asked! I wanted make you aware of his upcoming Festival, which will take place in Knoxville April 25-27.If you are in or near Knoxville--or even if you're not, but you are looking for something to do next weekend--you should go to the event! Not only will you hear Franklin Graham speak and preach the Word of God, but also you may see the likes of the legendary George Beverly Shea and Cliff Barrows--not to mention Michael W. Smith, Ricky Skaggs and Toby Mac. And who can forget Dennis Agajanian and the Tommy Coomes Band? There is also an event for kids on Saturday morning--you should check it out!
Getting back to the photo: I first met Franklin Graham in Kosovo in December of 1999. I was a reporter/editor for a newspaper in Tennessee, and I was there on an Operation Christmas Child shoe-box distribution trip. (In case you didn't know, OCC is a project of Samaritan's Purse, an international disaster-relief organization). Little did I know that, just a year and a half later, I would end up working at Samaritan's Purse! I saw Franklin Graham a lot more then, but I didn't ask for a photo every time--because, well, that might be kind of weird. Even for me.
