Goodbye, 8 Months! Hello, 9!

Kate turns 9 months old today! At 6:13 a.m., to be precise. A few weeks or so after she was born, I realized that her birth order on each side of the family tree corresponded with the time of her birth. See, Kate is the 6th grandchild on Tanna's side of the family, and she's the 13th grandchild on my side of the family. Pretty neat, huh?

Well, before she turns the big 9 months, I wanted to write down just a few things from the last month. It's been a busy one for her. She started crawling like a true champ. I mean, no more of this military-crawl business--she is up on all fours and gone lickety-split! She also started pulling up--and boy, is she enjoying it these days. She likes to stand at the coffee table and just kind of slap it. She is getting much more brave in the pulling-up category, so we are in trouble! Oh, and she has started to kind of climb up on top of things. When we're hanging out in the sunroom, Tanna and/or I might be stretched out on the carpet, and she'll crawl on over and try to climb right over us or just on top of us. It's pretty funny!

Kate still babbles a lot ... still loves bath time (though she does not sit still, which is more of a challenge for me) ... still loves to go places and see people. (She does so well when we go out and about.) She's still a great eater--must get that from her ah-pah. She's started eating a lot more solids and now even eats puffs all by herself. Oh yeah--and she just had her first Cheerio on Sunday! We're still working on the sippy cup--she loves to hold it and chew on the spout thingy, but doesn't seem to drink anything. LOL! She also has discovered how to open drawers and loves to do so.

I can't believe how much she is growing! She has just started to transition into size 12-18, though she still wears 6-12 most of the time. I can't wait to find out her stats when we visit her pediatrician next week for her 9-month checkup. Last time, she was in the 95th percentile for height and 75th for weight. (Granted, her appointment was a few weeks late, but she's still on the upper side of the charts for sure.) I guess we'll see how she measures up soon enough ...

Happy 9 Months, Babe!

P.S. Be sure to check out Tanna's post from yesterday to read more about Kate's adventures and such.
