11 @ 11

Sooooo ... continuing the tradition ... here are 11 things about Kate at 11 months old. I am in disbelief that our little girl will be 1 tomorrow!

1. Kate's paci addiction continues. But she likes her paci to be vertical, so that part of it touches her nose. If you try to move it horizontally (the way it's supposed to go), she will quickly turn it back the way she likes it! So funny!

2. She has a new interest in books and loves to hold them and turn the pages. Sometimes, she will babble as if she is reading to herself. She has a special book that is her "car book." It's a Sesame Street book that Aunt Robin gave her as a favor at Riley's birthday party. She started looking at it on the way home from Tennessee on that same trip, and it has become a favorite. We keep it in the car next to her carseat, and she will immediately reach for it when we are putting her in the car. Half the time, she looks at it upside-down. Either way, she loves it, and it keeps her happy in the car.

3. Speaking of books, she loves to knock the books off of the bookshelves in our room. She is drawn to the same ones, it seems. She'll go to the small bookshelf and start pulling off the baby-themed books. If she happens to make it to the big bookshelf, she reaches for one or two of the small Gideon New Testaments (loves to hold them). Then she likes to grab the book Searching for God in America.

4. Knock, knock! Someone loves the door-knocker! When we come home from an outing and I have a lot of things to bring in from the car, I sometimes load up the stroller with stuff and just carry Kate. Where we live, getting inside with a lot of groceries or other packages can be a challenge--especially if you don't want to make more than one trip. So if I am holding Kate and trying to get inside, she loves to knock the door-knocker on our door.

5. She has officially graduated to size 4 diapers!

Looks like someone is wearing shoes in the house!
You won't be able to do that for much longer, girl.

6. Kate is standing on her own a lot more! She seems to stand for longer amounts of time when she is holding something in her hands and doesn't realize what she is doing! LOL! She continues to take a step or two now and again, but she is still working on her walking abilities.

7. She has moved on up to the big tub. Tanna deflated her duckie tub a few weeks ago. I was sad to see it go--it is so cute, and Kate enjoyed it so much! But she was getting too big for it and tried to climb out of it all the time. I bought a rubber mat for our tub so she doesn't slide around so much--she is a slippery little girl!

8. She loves to make this "Aaaauuuugggghhhh!" noise. It's so cute--she'll say it back to you when you say it to her. We have a funny video of Tanna and her going back and forth. Hilarious!

9. She's been doing this for a while, but she will start clapping her hands when I sing the ABC song. I used to sit with her on my lap and sing the ABCs and "Jesus Loves Me" and clap her hands for her, and I guess she caught on!

I love this alphabet shirt!

10. She continues to eat lots more people food. She loves to try new things. A favorite is Chick-fil-A chicken nuggets. Her favorite snacks these days are Honey Maid Grahams, Gerber Graduates Lil' Crunchies, YoBaby yogurt and applesauce.

11. We started the transition to milk. We were doing well for a little bit, but these days she doesn't have much of an interest in milk or formula--either in a bottle or a sippy cup. It's a challenge to get her to drink either, but we are working on it!

And one to grow on ...

While at Tanna's parents' house the other day, she took a liking to Halabji's plastic golf balls. They're the perfect size for her little hands, and she didn't want to let go of them! LOL! She even crawled around with them in her hands. He gave her two, so she can crawl around with them here. That's our funny little girl!
