Would you take a nickel for that?

Ever on the lookout for new things to do to keep a 1-year-old occupied ... I decided to hit a few yard sales this morning with Kate. It was GREAT! We went to a street-wide (do you say "street-wide"? "street-long"?) sale, where we could park the car and walk the neighborhood. It was wonderful. Kate really seemed to enjoy it as she rode along in her stroller and watched the neighborhood kids go from sale to sale and visit. It was such a nice street, and the residents had a lot of kid things for sale. Some great deals were to be had! I saw tons of toys for kids Kate's age, but I had to resist because of our space issues and such. Plus, she has a room full of toys, thanks to her generous extended family and very sweet friends who showered her with birthday presents.

I ended up buying some books for my nieces and for Kate's friend Amelia, a Build-A-Bear cat for Abigail (checked with her Mommy first), and a backup toy drumstick for Kate (like one of the ones she has--it was only a dime). Oh, and I purchased a bottle of water from some of the children who had a little table set up to sell cookies and drinks. At 75 cents, that bottle of water was one of my most expensive purchases. LOL! I am a sucker for stuff that kids are selling. Anyway, it was a fun outing--and something we might try to do again if other nearby neighborhoods have similar sales.

P.S. Contrary to what the title might suggest, I didn't even try to do any bargaining today. (I don't think I was buying enough to really necessitate it.) There was this one grandma lady who was really pushing the deals, though. It was quite funny (but probably only to me). haha
