Meeting My Fellow Stalkers ...

Last Saturday night, I drove up to Roswell to attend a party for stalkers. Really, it was a blog party ... or a social gathering for bloggers. This is the part where I feel a little weird--you know, admitting that I meet online strangers IRL. The thing is, I am no stranger to making friends via the Internet. I have been to several "meet ups" or "get-togethers" of random people I have met online. I usually feel awkward doing so, and for some reason tend to be shy and not myself. But in the end, I am usually glad I went.

We had name tags and everything!

Such was the case last weekend. Several weeks ago, Heather posted on her blog that she was organizing a blog party here in the metro area. I was very intrigued and interested in attending. The date worked out with our calendar, so I made the proper arrangements and was looking forward to it! Then, that evening, I told Tanna that maybe I wouldn't go. I was going to chicken out! (Can you believe it?) He talked me into going, and I am glad he did. It was a lot of fun!

I met so many fun folks, and saw a few friends, too. Angela--the wife of a former colleague and office neighbor--was there, as were Adam and Kristy, a couple of Tanna's friends from Georgia Tech. I got to meet so many cool blogging peeps--some of which traveled all the way across the country to be there!

Turns out, the party was the brainchild of Soliloquy and was organized by Heather (aka "Whittaker Woman") and Stephanie (aka "Desperate Housewife"). Stephanie put a lot of work into getting a TON of door prizes--you should have seen them all! I actually won the first one, a beautiful candle from Kandles by Kate. I'll have to take a photo of it--it's a khaki-ish color, and it has the word "Faith" written across it. It is so pretty. I'm not really a candle person because I am very afraid of fire (and even more so after I had to escape a burning building last year), but I love it. The sentiment is very special to me, too. So be sure to check out Kate's Kandles--what great gift ideas! (Of course, I just love her name, too.)

I had a cookie for dessert, the chocolate-chip variety. Deeeee-lish!

The party was at The Fickle Pickle, which I recommend. The service was excellent, and the food was good. I did have to order a separate meal (despite having paid my share for the party food), but when you are a weird eater like I am, you get used to not eating at functions like these. I was quite hungry the other day, so I didn't mind paying extra for something I could eat. :o) It was worth it, too. And our restaurant party hostess went out of her way to accommodate me, which was very much appreciated.

Anyway, I enjoyed the evening. I just wish I'd had more time to chat with everyone--but I look forward to following more blogs!

THANKS for all the hard work, ladies! The blog party was a success, and now I need to add a bunch of new links. :o) Let's do it again, party peeps!

Angela and I did this face-squish/cheerleader photo just for her DH, Eric. He just *loves* photos like this.

Attendees got one of Carlos Whittaker's Christmas CDs. It's great--thank you!!

It was a pleasure to meet everyone!
