Celebrity Saturday--Chuck Norris

Welcome to Celebrity Saturday! This week's celebrity is none other than Chuck Norris--yes, THE Chuck Norris!

I've actually met Chuck Norris twice. The first time, I was in high school, and he was filming something near my hometown. I actually ran into him at The Mall at Johnson City--formerly known as "The Miracle Mall" for you old-school East Tennesseans. He was very nice! Well, the high school gal asked him for an autograph, and he very politely declined. I remember thinking that he seemed shorter in real life. (Clich
é, I know, but true!) He did touch me on the shoulders. LOL!

So ... fast forward about 15 years or so. I met him again at a CBA event, where he was promoting his book Against All Odds: My Story. I got a signed copy for Tanna, who actually took the Chuck Norris Karate System in his younger days. (Tanna still practices his karate kicks and moves around our place. I would give you more detail, but I have to be carefull--I don't want to reveal any of his karate/ninja secrets. Let's just say you don't want to meet him in a dark alley ... unless you're me. hee hee) Anyway, this time not only did I get his John Hancock, but I also got a picture. This is me with ol' Walker, Texas Ranger, himself a few years back--2004, I believe.

You've probably seen some of the "Chuck Norris Facts" that started floating around a while ago. Some of them are hil-arious! I picked a few that made me laugh out loud (really) ... or at least smile. Here they are:
  • When taking the SAT, write "Chuck Norris" for every answer. You will score over 8,000.
  • Chuck Norris once worked as a weatherman for the San Diego evening news. Every night he would make the same forecast: Partly cloudy with a 75% chance of Pain.
  • There is, in fact, an "I" in Norris--but there is no “team”… not even close.
  • Along with his black belt, Chuck Norris often chooses to wear brown shoes. No one has DARED call him on it. Ever.
  • It takes Chuck Norris only 20 minutes to watch "60 Minutes."
