Celebrity Saturday--Ann Curry (and our Today Show visits)

When we were in New York, we visited The Today Show (twice, actually) and met Ann Curry! She was soooooo nice! She said hello to us when she first came outside. She was actually walking back inside when I was standing there with Kate, hoping to get a photo--and she came over to talk to us and happily posed for a picture. In fact, I had asked for a picture of her and Kate, and I was going to take it. But she suggested that someone else take a photo of the three of us. She was so sweet to Kate, who had been crying because she dropped her lollipop. Ann told her there were a few stores around that probably sold lollipops, so she could get a new one. Kate was wearing her "I adore Paris" shirt, and Ann told Kate that she adored Paris, too. :o) Thank you, Ann, for saying hello and for being so kind!

How cool is that!? I had been trying to get a photo of Kate and Mr. X and the sign I'd made with the studio in the background (easier said than done--see above photo, which was one of the best out of several), and afterward a woman with a camera approached us. Turns out, she works for NBC and does The Today Show blog and was taking photos of fans with signs, etc. Pretty cool!



Oh yeah--Mr. X got some airtime, too! When the cameras came out, we were behind a big crowd of folks, but I held up Mr. X and our sign as high as I could. You could see him popping up over the people's heads. LOL! I found a clip of it a while back, but I don't have the link handy right now.


We had stopped by the day before, but it was kind of late in the morning, so not a lot was going on then. We got a few photos, though. (The Mr. X photo with the taxi and the studio is also from our first visit, just FYI.)


The next morning, we arrived a lot earlier. I was planning to walk up to the children's museum (quite a ways), so we were just going to stop by The Today Show for a little while. I had made a sign for Mr. X and wanted to see if we could hold it up for the cameras--and get some photos, of course.


We hadn't been there very long when Ann Curry came out! She is so pretty.


Not long afterward, Meredith Vieira came out! Love her! Ann and Meredith both took a lot of time to greet people in the crowd and to pose for photos, etc.

Not too long after Ann and Meredith came outside, Al and Matt came out, too! Here is the whole gang talking to a guy from The Biggest Loser. (I don't watch that show, but my sister does--she was excited to know we saw him. She said we should have had our photo taken with him, but I wasn't sure who he was at the time.)

We had a lot of fun visiting The Today Show. I went back in 2001 and got my niece Rebekah's picture on the air when she was a newborn. My Mom and sister Robin were watching (I had called and told them I was going to hold Rebekah's picture up, and they saw it), so that was pretty neat. The atmosphere on the plaza is so much fun--I just love it.
