Getting your outfit together for Cow Appreciation Day can be fun. Here are a few ideas for your core ensemble ...
- Work with what you have. You can easily take a white shirt and shorts (or skirt or pants, etc.) and tape black cow spots on them. Chick-fil-A has its own costume starter kit--complete with cow spots and an "Eat More Chikin" sign--that you can print out and use. Don't have white? Use black clothing with white spots--or any other color. I saw photos of a purple-spotted cow last year. So cute!
- Other ideas to use for your core costume ... a sheet ... trash bag ... table cloth ...
- Buy a cow costume. Be on the lookout for cow costumes--for the kids or for yourself. Check out some of the ideas here: http://www.coolest-homemade-costumes.com/cow-costume.html. If it's too late for this year, you can be on alert for next year--especially around Halloween. Last Christmas, my friend Kristi gave us something like this:
- Wear cow-themed clothes. There are tons of clothes out there that feature cow spots or cows on them. Baby and children's clothes seem to have lots of cute options. But adults have options, too. For example, if you have to go into the office on Friday, here is something that you could wear all day. It's from Boden, and it's a little pricey for just CAD, but ... if you're not on a budget ... it works!
The print may not be exactly like cow spots, but I think it's close enough.
Last year, I bought a cow-print pillowcase dress for my daughter. It turned out to be way too big for her, but I was able to squeeeeeze into it and wear it as a shirt for CAD! (See top photo.) - Think outside the box. Have a dog costume that is white with black spots? That could potentially work as a cow costume, too. Just make a few adjustments, and you're in business! Same thing for black/white polka-dotted items. If you can accessorize and improvise, these things could work well for Cow Appreciation Day.
- Be looking for cow items at your local consignment shops, garage sales, thrift stores, etc. You never know when you might find a great bargain for Cow Appreciation Day!
- Check out these Web sites for tons of items and ideas ...
- Etsy (search for "cow print")
- eBay (search for "cow print")
- Oriental Trading Company (search for "cow")
Have fun!
I love that you are so into this!
