I think I have mentioned here before that I have about 167 pieces of scrap paper with various things about Kate scribbled on them. So ... I thought I would do a little housekeeping and get those things recorded. Or at least some of them. Here are some random things about Kate, from age 2.5 to 3.0. (She just turned 3 last Thursday.) I apologize in advance if some of these are repeats. Kate ...
- Started praying the "God is great; God is good" blessing before meals. I was working with her on this back at the end of February/first of March. When we were in the car on our way to Tennessee back in early March, we grabbed dinner at a McDonald's drive-thru in North Carolina. Kate started saying the blessing all by herself, unprompted. It was a sweet moment, and I called Tanna (who was in Georgia) to tell him. She still says this blessing, but now she leaved out the "God is good" part. We tried to get her to say it, and Tanna finally conceded that "God is good" is redundant after saying "God is great." I have to agree with him on that one--and I'd actually thought that myself. :o)
- Likes to fold little towels and wash clothes and similar-sized items. Truly.
- Likes to stand at the window and watch people leave.
- Loves to jump, especially on the last step or on a curb, etc.
- Will jump or run and hug and say "BIG BOUNCE!" She will ask you, "Wanna bounce?" That means she wants you to sit in the floor and wait for her to run and jump into your arms--and then you both fall over, laughing. She will sometimes run as far away as possible (without leaving the house) to get a good run in. LOL!
- Loves bathtime and splashing--a little too much.
- Interests: painting, art, coloring, stamping, cars, playing kitchen, Aquadoodle, etc. She likes to draw: smiley faces, lollipops, sunshine, boat on water (when Grampy was here), some letters (E, F, T, etc.), circles ...
- She has an obsession with Dum Dum lollipops.
- Before nap or bedtime, enjoys looking at books.
- Asks you a question to indicate what she wants. Example: "Do you want a waffle for breakfast?"
- Can work the DVD player all by herself.
- Still loves to watch Gabba. Now knows episodes by name and requests them by name. One of her first favorites was "New Friends," which she called "Jack" for a while because it guest stars Jack Black. Also, when the episode-recap song starts to play, Kate is already asking for more Gabba because she knows it's almost over.
- Lines things up.
- Likes to get into the flowers and also pick flowers--even ones that aren't for picking.
- Frequently says words such as "Mine!" "No!" "Stop it!" (Fun times!)
- Puts her shoes on all by herself (fastens buckles, etc.). She has been taking her shoes off upon entering the door for a while, too.
- Eats grapes (loves them!). I am pretty sure this is a new food during this time period.
- Likes to close doors.
- Enjoys Sunday school and getting a chocolate-chip cookie afterward.
- Likes to go to Publix and Kroger and Costco and the Farmer's Market (Chango) with her Ah-Pah.
