These little traditional Korean figurines hanging on our tree actually are not ornaments. Their original packaging indicates that they are "key holder accessories." But they make perfect ornaments for us. I think Tanna's mom brought one back from Korea for us, and we also bought some when we were in Korea in 2005. We gave some as gifts, and I believe some of our family members have them hanging on their Christmas trees as well.
These are special for obvious reasons--they serve as a reminder of Tanna's (and Kate's) Korean heritage and of our trip to South Korea a few years ago. This year, however, they take on new meaning as we wait for our next child, who will join us from South Korea. This time next year, we should know who he or she is ... and, perhaps, even have our new little one home with us.
We also think of our child's birth mother. Maybe she is currently pregnant and contemplating her pregnancy and child. Perhaps she already has given birth. Wherever she is and whatever she is doing, we hope and pray that some day she will somehow understand the depth of our gratitude for the gift she will be giving. As I think about this, I am reminded of the greatest gift ever given--the Lord Jesus Christ. As we prepare to celebrate His birth, we pray that the birth mother of our child knows this gift and His love personally.
These are sooo cute and so special Karen!
ReplyDeleteThey are perfect! And your little one will be too!
ReplyDeleteThe fact that you care enough to think of that mom makes you and your family the right choice to be the guide in a new child's life. I hope the coming year brings a new little one into your home.
ReplyDeleteI love the Korean ornaments. I too like to find things that represent Chloe and Bella's cultural heritage. All I seem to come up with are jade looking trinkets, LOL
I love these ornaments!!! I love the fact that you are praying for your new child and the birth mother! Merry Christmas!
