The Gingerbread House

I saw this gingerbread house kit at Costco a few weeks ago, and I thought it looked pretty cool. I mean, all the ingredients you need for a cute little candy house, all organized and packaged nicely ... and for only $9.99. Who could resist? So we bought it and eventually it was decided we could put it together in Tennessee with the nieces there.

After Anna-Claire's party last Saturday--and during Kate and A-C's nap time--Robin and I headed to her house, where the gingerbread festivities were to take place. Steven had Abigail, Rebekah and Riley with him. They made it there a little while before we did because we had a stop to make along the way. (One that took a lot longer than expected, but that's another story.)

Anyway ... constructing and decorating the gingerbread house was fun--and a lot harder than I thought it would be! I did most of the icing. As you can see from the photos, it is definitely not one of my talents--but we had a good time with it. The girls enjoyed eating some of the candy and licking some of the icing. Robin now has the completed house displayed in one of her kitchen windows ... with you-know-who close by. ha!

Hard at work--can you tell?

The girls like to take silly-face photos.

Group shot with the finished product--and a big mess. ;o)

Do you see him?

  4. Those gingerbread houses are pretty difficult! You need more than 2 sets of hands and 1 set of grubby hungry swiper toddler hands to pull it off. LOL
