Christmas Ornaments: Our First Christmas Together

This ornament is from our first married Christmas, which was 2004. Yes, it is also a Hallmark. We have a few other "Our First Christmas Together" ornaments, and I like them all. It's fun to commemorate such big events--weddings, anniversaries, new babies, new homes, graduations, vacations, etc.--with a Christmas ornament. I remember looking forward to seeing what Hallmark's "First Christmas Together" ornaments would be that year. Same thing with the "Baby's First Christmas" ornaments from 2007, the year Kate was born. I didn't get a photo, but the year (2004) is on the back of the heart.

I was pleased with this ornament, despite its gold color (I am more of a silver person) and its heart shape (not my thing). I love that it opens like a locket to reveal space for a photo (yay!). Do you know how hard it is to find a photo that works well in a heart-shaped space? It can be quite a challenge, but I was so happy to find a wedding photo that would work. What makes this ornament even more special is the Scripture from 1 Corinthians 13. Part of this Scripture is engraved on the inside of our wedding bands: "Love never fails" (1 Corinthians 13:8, NIV).

  1. Awww. Adorable. Hahaha. First time I saw it I was thinking it's gotta be hard to find a picture to fit it.
